Best Las Vegas Hotels for Families

Updated on October 15, 2010

As family vacation options go, Las Vegas is pretty low on the list. It is not a kid-friendly place, and most major hotels do not offer babysitting or children’s activities. Very few offer discounts for children or let older children stay free. These hotels cater to vacationing adults and do not see investing in kids’ activities and meals as worthwhile. However, if you are planning a family vacation in Vegas, here are some hotels that may be your best bet for accommodating families. In addition to these, it would also be worthwhile to seek out a hotel unconnected to a casino and a place with a kitchenette.

Four Seasons
While the Four Seasons is on the expensive side of Las Vegas hotels, it also offers lots of free goodies and opportunities for pampering. Older children especially may enjoy this treatment and feel entertained.

Mandalay Bay
Mandalay Bay offers many amenities that are attractive for families. The rooms are large and spacious enough to accommodate large families. You can access this hotel without having to enter a casino, making it accessible. Many restaurants are available, giving your family diverse menu options. Also, shows and a shark attraction offer family fun. The biggest draw for this hotel is the great swimming—your family can relax in a wave pool, lazy river, and a variety of other pools.

The Orleans
The Orleans is close to the strip and offers several family-friendly activities, including a large pool area, an activity area for kids, bowling, and movie theatres. Small children will especially like these activities.

Circus Circus Hotel & Casino
This hotel is home to daily circus acts in the mezzanine level from 11:00am to midnight, carnival games, and an arcade. There is also an amusement park just behind the hotel. The hotel is also centrally located on the strip, making it an ideal place for both adults and children.

Excalibur

This hotel originally had a heavy sword and sorcery theme, but this has been toned down in recent years. Kids will enjoy an entire floor of midway games and a giant video-game arcade. Some shows and eateries target children, giving your family some good dining options. Keep kids away from the hotel’s male stripper show, though!

New York-New York
This hotel is hectic and crowded, but does offer some family options including a roller coaster and the Coney Island-themed midway. There are lots to see as well, making it a good strolling place.

I took my kids to Las Vegas one year and stayed at the Excaliber. They loved it. We did all the kids things they have to do. MGM used to have an amusement park also.

    Hi Lela!!

For years Vegas was the last place to bring children! But they really are trying to change that!!

I can vouch for Ceasar's, Harrah's and the Rio in Las Vegas for going out of their way to make kids welcome!!

Mostly I think what makes a Vegas vacation work for families with kids is picking a time when kid-friendly things are happening!

A week long Lego's convention might be a better choice than the Annual Strippers Reunion!

GREAT Hub!! Blessings always, Earth Angel!
