Pigeon Forge

Pigeon Forge is a super popular vacation destination in Tennessee, practically at the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You might already know this, but the Smokies park is the most visited national park in the US. You won’t believe all there is to do in Pigeon Forge and the surrounding area until you experience it for yourself. Outdoor activities include ziplining, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, golf, miniature golf, go-karting, ATV tours, fishing, swimming, tubing, gem mining, hiking, amusement parks, snow skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. Indoor activities include dinner theatres, live shows, a great aquarium, museums, art galleries, craft demonstrations, trampolines, obstacle courses, rock climbing, laser tag, haunted houses, bowling, arcades, bumper cars, magic adventures, simulated rides, and restaurants and shopping that can’t be beat. You won’t run out of things to do in Pigeon Forge, but just in case you do, Gatlinburg and all it has to offer is just a short drive away.

Pigeon Forge Cabins

Looking for a great Pigeon Forge cabin? Well, we found one, which I’ll tell you more about shortly. First, you need to decide if a cabin is the right choice for you and your family. There are many, many Pigeon Forge hotels, and there are some advantages to staying right on the Parkway, but that’s just not for us. We like more privacy and more room than a typical hotel provides. That’s why we chose to stay in a cabin on our December family vacation.

There’s no shortage of Pigeon Forge cabins from which to choose, but you have to choose wisely. While price is an important consideration for many vacationers, don’t go by price alone. Value is much more important. I suggest making a list of the amenities that are most important to you first, and then go from there. Look closely at all photographs that are included in the description of the vacation rental, and read all reviews.

Best Cabin in Pigeon Forge

We found the perfect cabin in Pigeon Forge! I have absolutely no reason to mislead you. I’m not getting paid by the owner or being rewarded in any way. I don’t know the owner, either. I just want to share this information with those who might be looking for vacation rentals in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area.

Let’s start with location. Many Smoky Mountain cabins are on the side or near the top of a mountain. That might sound like a great spot for spectacular views, but for me and my family, such a situation simply isn’t practical. We don’t want to have to spend so much valuable vacation time driving up and down miles of steep, winding roads every time we want to go into town and back. Adventure Awaits Cabin is located less than a mile off the Parkway, the “main drag.” It’s in a wooded subdivision called “Alpine Mountain Village.” Vacationers can enjoy being near all the attractions while feeling like they’re in a remote location. It’s the best of both worlds!

Adventure Awaits sleeps eight, and there were seven of us. The cabin was perfect for my daughter, son-in-law, three grandchildren, my husband, and me. There are two levels, and you drive up and park at the top level, practically right at the front door. That makes packing and unpacking your vehicle super easy. On the top level are the kitchen, dining area, living room, king bedroom, and full bath. On the lower level are another king bedroom, full bath, half bath, and the wonderful home theatre/game room.

More specifically, the kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare meals. The bar has three stools, and the dining table seats at least eight people. We loved the rustic wood table and benches! The kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker, and there’s a charcoal grill just outside the front door – steps from the kitchen. Grill something wonderful and enjoy it in the dining area or on one of the decks.

The bedrooms are spacious, with beautiful, comfy log beds. Another huge plus is the large jetted tub in each bedroom – big enough for two! In each full bath is also a shower, just in case you don’t want to luxuriate in the deep bathtub.

The living room features more rustic furniture, a TV, and a stone fireplace with raised hearth. No need to bother with messy ashes, either. The fireplace is electric, but it’s the most realistic electric fire I’ve ever seen. Turning it on made the cabin feel even cozier. The leather couch makes into a double bed, and the cushy chair next to a lamp was my spot for curling up with a good book.

On the rear of the main level is a deck, complete with a wood bench and a wrought iron table and chairs. You’ll love the view: trees and distant peaks of the Smokies.

We spent a lot of time in the game room/theatre. The movie seats are amazingly comfortable, and the big TV provides a stunning picture. It’s almost like 3D, without having to wear special glasses. The sound system is great, too. The couch in the front row makes into a bed. There are also a very nice pool table and a slot machine in the room.

The lower deck features more seating and a wonderful hot tub. Boy, did we take advantage of that! Having a glass of locally produced wine while relaxing in the hot bubbles and taking in the view was heavenly!

The owner, Brandon, is super nice and helpful. He responds quickly to emails, and it’s obvious he really cares about his guests. On our December trip, we found the cabin all decorated for Christmas! We also found a “starter kit” that included almost everything we needed for the first day or so. Who wants to run to the store right after a long drive?

The cabin is new, everything worked, and it was immaculately clean. The price was very reasonable, too. Believe me – we did a lot of comparison cabin shopping before we booked Adventure Awaits. If you’d like to book this cabin, you can find it on VRBO. It’s #852174. If you’d like to contact the owner, Brandon Sullivan, directly, his phone number is 239-209-4420. You won’t be disappointed!

Alpine Mountain Village

Alpine Mountain Village is home to numerous Smoky Mountain cabins, ranging from small to huge. Some cabins are pet-friendly, and ours had WiFi, which was a definite must for us. The resort is very well maintained, quiet, and attractive. The complex includes an outdoor swimming pool, a chapel, a hiking trail, a playground, a picnic area, and a waterfall. Of course, since our trip was in the winter, we didn’t get to take advantage of the pool, but we’re already thinking about a summer vacation. If this Pigeon Forge vacation rental sounds right for you, book it soon!

I love visiting this area in the Smoky Mountains. Such a great and fun place to vacation. We always end up renting a big cabin with my family. Those cabins are wonderful. And the views are priceless. Thank you for sharing this and now I think I will have to plan to go there soon again.

Hi! We saw some fire damage near Gatlinburg, but the parts of Pigeon Forge we saw seemed unaffected by the wildfires.

Hi, Holle. That seems like a wonderful vacation. Were you affected by any of the wildfires in that area?

I'm happy to connect with you here. I was connected on Bubblews (remember that trip?), and found you when I returned here. I've never been very active on HubPages, but thought I'd give it another try.
