Here are a few spots I am able to share with you as I make my home in Western New York in the Chautauqua County area and some of these places are very familiar to me. I can share some spots with those who may not be familiar with Chautauqua and the surrounding area and who may visit Western New York in the future for business or leisure. These suggestions will be especially helpful to those looking for a vacation getaway or a weekend family getaway. For any purpose, some of these best weekend getaways in New York would be well worth checking out. There are lakes in New York. The Finger Lakes region of Western New York is a great place as one of many places to travel in New York if you are interested in the best lakes in New York.

Don't miss Niagara Falls, New York a spectacular Western New York Weekend Getaway. Witness the power and beauty of the Falls as you stroll along the pathways. visit the parks, restaurants and shops. Several hotels and accommodations along the Fall area or overlooking the Falls make this a perfect place to getaway for a weekend. Niagara Falls is considered to be the honeymoon capital of the world making it a perfect romantic getaway. Chautauqua Institution, in Chautauqua County is an absolutely wonderful place to visit during the 9 week summer season. With the location being right along Chautauqua Lake, the area is beautiful, Chautauqua Lake is inviting and the programs at the Institution give people so much to choose from. The choices range from family entertainment to philosophical, political or religious lectures to recreation of all kinds. An absolutely wonderful place for those looking at New York tourism or a Western New York getaway.

Several small towns make up Chautauqua County each offering their own unique attractions. Westfield, NY is one such town offering picturesque countryside, beautiful old homes and churches, grape vineyards and wineries and several antique shops. An awesome Italian Restaurant in Westfield is located on Market Street and is called Calarcos Italian Restaurant. Travel sites in the area are plentiful and wonderful Accommodations can be found including, century old, restored homes, exquisite hotels, condominiums, cottages, bed and breakfasts and several other places. Letchworth State Park, A Popular Destination

Another weekend getaway may include a trip to Letchworth State Park in Castile, New York. It is considered the Rocky Mountains of the east and for good reason. It is along the Genesee River and consists of more than 14,000 acres. It has three major waterfalls and and high cliffs making for some unbelievable scenery.

Letchworth State Park is also a popular place for a beautiful, scenic outdoor wedding. If a couple were looking for some fantastic wedding memories and photos, this would be a great choice in this area.

It is centrally located near the finger lakes, the Niagara Frontier and the Chautauqua Alleghany region making it a prime Western New York destination spot.

There is a wonderful small ski town called Ellicottville, New York. In the winter, the town comes live with 1000's of visitors because of Holliday Vallwy Ski Resort. Holiday Valley is a beautiful area situated in the Allegany Mountaiins

Winter sports lovers love to ski, snowboard and snowmobile in this area.

      This is a very nice Hub. Thank you for the information. I spent a few summers on Seneca Lake, where my ex-wife's family has owned a home for generations. It is a beautiful area. I attended the graduation of my step-daughter from Wells College in Aurora, too. I love it up there where you live.
