Bethesda is a VIP (Very Important Place) in America, but it is not a city. Called a CDA or Census Designated Area, is is an unincorporated community on which the US Federal Government tracks statistics, including the US Census.It is located to the northwest of Washington DC and inside the I-495 Beltway.
The Chamber of Commerce attached to this place is the Bethesda- Chevy Chase branch and Chevy Chase is one of the richest communities in the USA.
The community of Bethesda's names originates in he name of a church - Bethesda Presbyterian Church or Bethesda Meeting House. The church was opened in 1820 and reconstructed in 1850. It was named for Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. In Aramaic, "beth hesda" means house of mercy.

Downtown Bethesda Development
The Bethesda Urban Development Partnership ensures that the downtown district of the area continues to grow and to provide educational, work, and recreational opportunities for residents.Military Discounts are offered by many establishments.
The fact is that the Downtown Bethesda project has developed an upscale lifestyles district full of restaurants, entertainment venues, arts and culture offerings, improved transportation, and nearby residences. As in many such developments across the country, this district offers a regular farmers market, free Wi-Fi service, and a convenient parking garage alongside street parking.
Bethesda Metro operates a station right in the center of Downtown, accompanied by the county bus line and the local free Bethesda Circulator, all at 7700 Georgetown Road. Car Sharing is available at the Metro Station on Wisconsin Avenue and if you drive there, parking is free.An additional rail line is in the works.
The Bethesda Regional Library is located at 7400 Arlington Road.
This are supports a hiking trail called The Capital Crescent Trail, which is enjoyed by bikers, hikers, joggers, and roller blade users from Georgetown to Silver Spring MD suitable. A hard paved surface is in place on this rail-trail from Georgetown to Bethesda. In 2015, work is ongoing to pave the remainder of the trail into Downtown Silver Spring.
The Bethesda free Circulator Bus travels throughout the Downtown District at no charge to passengers, running every 10 minutes from Monday though Saturday. Hours even include early morning and late night, making this service very convenient. Vacationers will enjoy that cost saving as well as the travel among museums, historic homes, monuments, restaurants, and retail places.

The Arts and Celebrations in Bethesda
Unique! - Tunnel Vision in Bethesda reminds me of the fine arts hung in the subways of Moscow, Russia. The Metro Tunnel under Wisconsin Avenue becomes an art gallery during this event. Bethesda supports dozens of arts, music, and dance studios -- The Metro Art in Transit Program decorates many venues. Public art is on view along many Bethesda streets. The Arts and Entertainment District is a sector within the Downtown Project., running several blocks in all directions form the Metro Station. Wisconsin Avenue runs roughly north and south through the center of the district.

Over 240 apartments are under construction in a building o Norfolk Avenue, with over 80 condominiums going on on Woodmont. An additional condominium complex includes three buildings with almost 400 multifamily units and a large grocery store. The newest large apartment complex in Downtown Bethesda is the upscale Solaire Bethesda at 7100 Wisconsin Avenue, due to open in early 2016. Several other buildings are under way as well.
