Real budget trip to Singapore

I had a short vacation in Singapore for 4 days together with my sister and our close friend. Prior to our trip, people I know even my parents warned us that it would be very expensive to stay in Singapore, still we insisted to go coz we knew it would be fun and a memorable lifetime experience for us and we believed it would not cost us that much. Here's the proof:

ACCOMMODATION per day: 15 SGD around 350 baht/person ( Urban Hostel-Backpackers inn)

Location: Awesome, just adjacent to the MRT station ( Aljunied Station)

There's even cheaper than this, hostels somewhere in Little India..which we found it quite crowded.

TRANSPORTATION: We never used any other transpo means than bus and mrt.

Bus: always be ready with your 1 SGD coin once you get inside the bus, then don't forget to take the receipt.

MRT: max to 3 SGD, but you will get back 1 SGD when you return the MRT one trip card.

FOOD: Near Hostel area 1-2 SGD

Tourist areas 4-5 SGD which you will never's the best food you'l get.

unless you want to dine in cozy resto then I'll leave you guessing the food prices..

Quark Quay---a nightlife area but at day time you will be amazed with the architectural colorful village which is actually bars and restaurants.

Marina Bay-- wonderful area for me to realize that the place in the photos came to reality..In my part, I have been really looking forward to take photos in Marina Bay..amazing view where you can see Singapore Flyer, Esplanade and the Marina Sands ( 3 buildings with a boat structure at the top) which I regret I did not insist to go up, it holds the jaw dropping infinity pool and an amazing place to see the entire time, it would be my first in the list- to-do in Sg, note: 20 SGD for infinity pool site seeing, only Marina Sands hotel guests can have a free luxurious swimming in the pool of "heaven"!hehehh..

ENTERTAINMENT AREAS: Minimal fee and optional

Sentosa Island- A dream land came to reality, a wonderful place for whole family, a place that offers a lot of real fun.

Entrance fee: 1 SGD and the whole island is all yours, a real big photo studio that anywhere you go is a picture perfect view.

Practical fun things we did: ( it depends of what type of tourist you are, what we enjoyed doing might not be applicable to everyone)

Sky driving: one way 12 SGD /person's just like a cable car bu an open seat that you'll really feel the air above the ground..:) perfecto!

Universal Studio: Free ( coz we just passed by and took pictures outside, it saved us 66 SGD! )

Extreme adventure: Where we survived!!

package deal; climbMax it's a rope climbing & skyfly a 350 meters zipline from the top of sentosa forest to one of the islet beach side!! 49 SGD/person...yet so fulfilling!!

Chill in Sentosa seloso beach: FREE

REGRETS: spending 7.50 SGD in 6 chicken "small" wings and regular size fries in Mcdo..:( we end up having 2nd meal in resto for 5 SGD each..

entering/going out from Sentosa: free!

Boardwalk: FREE awesome path to wonderland....gosh i was ultimately happy when I saw the luxury cruise ship docking around Sentosa port, it's one of my childhood dreams to be in the cruise ship! walking with walkalator is not bad at all plus you get to see the nice sea water view.

One rail sentosa train: FREE!

Cable car: though we wanted to ride but when it's time to go home we were already in the beach that it could be another energy exhausting effort going up for the cable car terminal.heheh Nah, I'm not quite sure if it's also free...I hope so!:)

Singapore city tour!! our one last shot during our 4th day... by open rooftop bus

23 SGD/each for whole day!

A good way to see the whole Singapore city, and be amazed of its orderliness, cleanliness and its amazing city plan...buildings and structures really stand in elegance and you will really agree that it is indeed a garden city in Asia, oh dear big trees are all around. It made me hopeful that someday I would see my own country, Philippines to also impose strict rules for country's prosperity and development.

Asian Civilization Museum : Entrance fee 5 SGD ( educational and entertaining brought by cultural facts blended with enovation and technology)

Marina Barrage: A reservoir skypark with a museum: FREE!! only if you have a car that u will be obliged to pay for parking fee in minimal amount..

Singaporean: ( oppps this is only my opinion)

They are really bossy in how they speak, they don't care/ rely so much to others yet when being asked for something they are happy to help. For me in every country lies a different culture and type of people, living in a diverse environment I can't give negative comments to Singaporean attitudes or even to other nationality, it is how I'm able to embrace the reality that we are all came from different backgrounds thus needs ample understanding rather than complaining.

Amazing tiny city state: Singapore

Never backpack before, but reading your hub, sounds like fun and cheap too. It is expensive to go to Singapore due to exchange rate, but looking at backpackers inns, maybe possibility. Thanks!
