Renz may not be travel junkie, but he is eager to share places he's visited and adventures he's experienced all for the love of traveling!

Discovering Campuestohan Highland Resort

Back in 2012 when I first traveled to Negros Occidental, the only suggested place to visit for some refreshing water fun and adventure was the 7 Waterfalls of the Mambukal Resort in Bacolod. This is why when I visited this province for a second time this 2015, I was expecting to hear the same suggestion. To my surprise, I heard an unfamiliar name, "Campuestohan".

We got very much curious to discover and know more about the place, so we decided to add this to our agenda.

Although you need to pay up a minimal fee of P150 for entrance, that's the only thing you will spend on. Well, not unless, you are staying there for lunch and/or for dinner.

The Sights

Once we eventually reached the highland, I immediately noticed the thick fog surrounding the place, making the place look a bit gloomy and cold. The temperature during that morning was probably at 18°C. I definitely appreciated the cool air because it was effective in taking out the stress in me. Still, I advice that you bring a sweater with you. It will come in handy for sure!

Fresh air and cool surroundings

One of the perks of being here in Campuestohan is the cool fresh air embracing you. It really is a good place to have a breather and to unwind.

Interesting sights and characters

Aside from the great environment, there are also interesting structures, sculptures and characters around the area. All of these make the place light, fun and wacky. Ultimately, they all make the place perfect for families!

There are lot of spots here in the place that are perfect for your selfies and group photos. Well, this huge King Kong is a superstar because a lot of people were taking their photos with him. Plus, it does this crazy roaring sound.

The Pool

Currently, there are two swimming pools in Campuestohan, but there is a plan to add more pools in the future including the much-awaited wave pool. There is no additional fee to pay for using the pool, and we were thankful for that because we didn't have much money left during that time.

I am not so sure whether the place is yet to be popular, but there were not many people using the pool. Hence, we were really able to enjoy our water fun.

The Huts

The huts are available for a day trip. Hence, if you are coming in a big group it is great to have a cottage. I noticed that the good thing about renting a cottage is that it allows you to have a better bonding with your friends or family. I know this because this is what we usually do in other resorts.

Unfortunately, we were saving up on some costs that time. This is why we opted not to rent a hut. Also, there were only 3 of us and we didn't have much items to carry, so what we did was just to bring our stuff with us wherever we go within the resort.

The Activities

Although the environment and the sights are good enough to attract visitors here in Campuestohan; however, a lot of others come here because of the great activities they may do here in the highland resort.

Zip line and sky bicycle

The famous ones are the zip line and the sky bicycle wherein you are some feet above the ground doing these activities.

Hanging Bridge

Again, if you are low on the budget, there are some few things you may do such as crossing the hanging bridge. I have yet to verify this, but right now I believe that this activity is free of charge.

Now, due to the multitude of things you may do here in Campuestohan, many companies or agencies choose to hold their team building events here. Again, we were very much low on budget that time, so we just did a lot of sight seeing and nature appreciation.

Staying Overnight in Campuestohan

Due to the beauty of the place, many families are captivated to spend the rest of the night here in the place. As a matter of fact, the rooms where you may stay are pretty much adorable. An example of this is like the photo below wherein the hut looks like that one in Disney Fairy Tales. We didn't include in our agenda to stay here in the resort, but upon seeing the place, we were tempted to do so. However, we needed to stick to the plan and just have a day tour.

The sights here in Campuestohan make you feel like you are in a Disney movie, Shrek in particular.

Just imagine waking up with this kind of view. It will surely be breathtaking, but of course, not only your breath will be taken away, all your stress will be too.

Now, there you have it!

I hope you enjoyed discovering this new place of wonder in Negros Occidental. It surely feels great knowing that the province is further developing. Anyway, I hope you find this sharing of my personal experience here in this resort helpful at the least if not entertaining.

I'm giving this place a rating of 4 out of 5 because of the affordability. Plus, the entrance fee itself is worth the price with the great sights. Staff inside the resort are accommodating too, especially in helping me find my friends (yes, the place is that huge, and I didn't have my phone with me).

Although it can be seen in the map that Campuestohan is away from Talisay City, the resort is still considered to be part of the said city.

Shuttle Service

Campuestohan offers a 30-Seater Air-condtioned Sarao (picture on the right) shuttle service every weekend. However, this comes with a fee of P100.00 per person. Also, you really need to be there 15 minutes before the designated time:

  • Loading Area: Villa Angela Arcade Parking Lot (in front of Lopue's East Center)
  • Departure Time from Bacolod: 9:00 AM
  • Departure Time from Campuestohan: 4:00 PM

Taxi as an Alternative

If in case you missed the shuttle, you can ride the taxi going to Campuestohan. Unfortunately, the usual price charged by the taxi drivers is fixed at P500.
