Carters Lake Pickens County Georgia
I'm recently new to the North Georgia area. So when researching things to do around here I found Carters Lake to be quite interesting. There is so much to do and see. The views alone could take your breath away. Carters Lake is located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains in Pickens County. It is by far the most beautiful lake in the Southeast. There are sparkling waters and wooded shoreline that provides a lovely setting for many recreational activities.
Of course there are a few clearly marked off limit places where access is restricted for operational and safety reasons. Or could be just to protect certain wildlife of fragile ecosystems. Other than those few areas the entire lake and its shores are open to the public. The Corps of Engineers have developed recreational areas near the dam and at five other sites around the lake for activities such as sightseeing, hiking, picnicking, camping, swimming, boating, water skiing, and even fishing. There is a large area on the south shore of the lake that is a marina, it is near the dam. There are also two fishing decks for those of you that don't own boats and tons of picnic facilities directly below the regulation dam.
If you are looking to make a trip to Carters Lake, you can find tons of information about recreational facilities and uses of the lake at Resource Manager's office or the visitor center. Which is located at the south end of the dam. There are also Rangers that patrol the area regularly which you can stop and ask for information. All the staff at the lake will be happy to help their visitors any way that they can to ensure that you have a pleasant stay while you are at Carters Lake. You can also visit the website and find tons more information about your stay.
