Celebrate a Hampi Holi

Updated on March 14, 2017

Hampi - The Holi Destination

A temple town recognized as UNESCO world heritage site, Hampi is in the ruins of the city of Vijayanagara, the former capital of Vijayanagara Empire and is the most searched historical place in Karnataka on Google.Hampi has been a host to crazy Holi celebrations year after year, with people from all over the world coming together to get drenched in colors and the craziness that ensues.

Holi - The crazy festival of colors

With the chant of "Holi Hai" all differences are forgotten and bygones are bygones also it gives an excuse to paint someone's face in any color you want. The dry colored powder popularly called Gulaal has colored the entire vatavaaran(atmosphere) in vivid shades. The drum beats make you lose yourself to dance(duh! daft punk). And the bhaang lassi a cannabis-laced drink is all set to make you go bonkers.

You get all wet with water guns pointed at you & water balloons smashed right into your face & your anger is washed down by the cute smile of the little kid that brought it down to you. You can hardly recognize yourself in the mirror leave alone anyone else. All the discrimination of skin color shattered with all skins white black and brown painted in hue. The feeling of belonging to one species - the human kind. The abandonment of individuality.

Do witness the crazy, chaotic & vibrant festival in Hampi.
