A low cost airline is an airline that has lower ticket fares as compared to the normal airlines. They are also known as discount, budget or no-frills carrier. It is generally seen that these low cost airlines do not allow cabin luggage along with the ticket and may charge extra, also some airlines charge extra for the foods during the flight. They commonly have a single type of aircraft like the Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 families. In-flight entertainment is also usually not available in such low cost airlines. Spice-Jet is a low cost airline with its head quarters in India. It started its operation in May 2005 and is the second largest low cost airlines as per the market value. 2. GoAir Airlines

It operates with a single class, 180 seater A220-A320 type aircrafts. It is a low cost airline which is a subsidiary of the well known Ai India and is based in Mumbai, India. It comes under the ownership of National Aviation Company of India Limited. It is a Mumbai based airline previously known as Air Sahara. It operates flights connecting various metropolitan centers in India and also provides helicopters for charter services and aerial photography or film shooting. It is one of the oldest among the low cost airlines with its operations beginning from Dec 1993.Jet Airways bought Air Sahara for 400 crores in April 2007 and changed the name to JetLite and bought about some changes in the fight schedules and other offers.
