Dairies of my last two days stay in Pasuruan and Surabaya, Indonesia

Updated on February 22, 2012

Another comfortable rest at chalet of Yayasan Kaliandra Sejati (yayasan means foundation), after the trip to Safari Indonesia II and some touring around the places in Yayasan Kaliandra Sejati to enjoy the tranquility. After the delicious breakfast, we walked through the places of Yayasan again. We went to organic vegetable farms. There are quite a big piece of vegetable farms for plantation, the vegetables are to supply for their own usage. A few farmers doing their farming there, all are hired under Yayasan Kaliandra Sejati.

On the visit to the fields and farms, we are also passing some Balinese constructions. One of the place impressed us is the boss mansion’s compound; we were attracted by the peaceful view. Actually this is a private compound for the boss of this place, a man then approached us and let us knows that nobody is allowed to entered, except the architectural student for research purposes or the guests invited by the boss.

During 2 days of stay in Yayasan Kaliandra, we really appreciated the ardent services of the staffs. They are really keen to their work even just a small waiter in the restaurant.

We made our move back to Surabaya. Distance from Tretes to Surabaya is about 70 km; it took about 1 1/2 hours by car.

Expenses :- *Toyota Unser from Tretes to Surabaya – Rp450k

We reached Surabaya and checked in Garden Hotel. The hotel is very near to shopping complexes and eateries in Surabaya town. This is a 3 star hotel which is joined on to the 4 star Garden Palace hotel, the two hotels managed by same group of staffs.

We went to Surabaya Plaza, thinking of to explore something in town. Some friends were trying foot reflexology here. After a short shopping in the Plaza, we went for dinner at a Chinese restaurant in the complex. It was dull and boring in this evening and i missed the tranquility in Yayasan Kaliandra.

On the next morning, before flying back to Kuala Lumpur, we checked for some market place to buy some souvenir. We went to Pasar Genteng Baru Surabaya. We couldn’t find any souvenir shops to buy some gifts back to hometown in Malaysia. Only bought some pink guava since Pasar Genteng is majorly fruits market in Surabaya Towm.

We checked out at around 12pm and waved goodbye to Surabaya. At last before departed from Java, I tasted the Mee Java at an airport in Java, Juanda airport.
