Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort

Updated on April 23, 2014

The Best Resort at Disney World?

There are 33 resort hotels on Disney World property. 24 of them are owned and operated by the Disney Company. With so many resorts to choose from, it can be overwhelming figuring out where to stay. If you can afford the deluxe resorts (and they are definitely pricey), you can't go wrong with Disney's Wilderness Lodge. It is conveniently located across the lagoon from the Magic Kingdom and offers comfortable ambiance, detailed theming, incredible atmosphere, great dining options and a truly impressive lobby.

A Breathtaking Place

Disney's Wilderness Lodge is themed to resemble one of the great national park lodges of the 19th century. The giant logs that comprise the interior are not actual wood, but the look is very convincing. The waterfalls, rock formations and geysers (which really do erupt from time to time) add to the overall theme.

A Beautiful Place to Stay

Set aside plenty of time to walk the grounds and enjoy the scenery.

The artificial geysers are fun to watch, but the eruption times are unpredictable.

Wilderness Lodge at Christmas Time

If at all possible, try to stay at Disney World during the holiday season. Of course, you probably want to avoid the week of Christmas, since the crowds are insane during that time, but if you manage to plan a trip for earlier in December, you will still get to enjoy the amazing decorations while avoiding the worst crowds. Wilderness Lodge in particular looks stunning during the holiday season.

Dining at Wilderness Lodge

There are a couple of great places to eat at Wilderness Lodge. Artist Point is a signature restaurant with upscale cuisine inspired by the Pacific Northwest. There is also Whispering Canyon Cafe, which is a rowdy experience that the kids will love. Be sure to ask for ketchup! Bear in mind, if you are kind of shy or prefer peace and quiet, Whispering Canyon Cafe might not be the best place for you.
