Traveling and writing, for me, go very well especially when it's time to share the experience to others.

Nowadays, it is common to see many vacationing families with their beloved pets. While planning for dog friendly vacations, it is ideal to look for the best locations to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Here are several dog friendly vacation destinations for you and your best friend to visit:

Woofstock Canada

Woofstock is North America's largest outdoor canine party held annually in Toronto during summer and winter. Over 300,000 dogs and their human companions attend the summer event in June where peace, love and doggy biscuits are plentiful.

Winter Woofstock on the other hand is great for snow-loving dogs like huskies, malamutes, Pyrenees mountain dogs and other densely coated breeds.

European Getaways

If you are planning for a European vacation, make sure to check these destinations and designated tourist spots for you and your furry friend.

Paris, France

If Paris is your chosen destination, be aware that it is ideal to only take smaller dogs that can be carried inside a pet carrier or specialized bag. You can take your furry friend for a stroll around the City of Lights and through the historic communities and pet-friendly cafés.

Tuscany, Italy

The beautiful hilly areas of Tuscany are home to family villas that offer relaxing escapades to tourists. You will find pet-friendly villas complete with furnishings, lush gardens, and backyard swimming pool for you and your pet to enjoy.

Mallorca, Spain

Another great destination for families is Mallorca. There's an animal beach near Palma that you can go to for long walks and swimming with your dog. For nature-lovers, you can go for nature walks around the island via Dog Hiking Majorca which organizes charity hikes for dogs and their owners.

UK Beaches

In the UK, there are numerous dog-friendly beaches where you can enjoy lots of sunshine, sand, and water.

Brean Beach (Somerset) offers year-round access and dog-friendly campsites along the three-mile stretch of sandy beach.

Camber Sands (East Sussex) allows pets along the sandy path towards Dungeness. You and your dog will enjoy the sceneries and the long coastal trail.

Freshwater West (Pembrokeshire Wales) is an all year-round wide sandy beach. The beach has spectacular sceneries along its coastal path and is covered in dunes and has a freshwater stream for dogs to drink.

Formby (Liverpool) is a favorite dog-friendly beach on the Sefton Coast and it has no seasonal restriction on pets. It offers woodland picnic areas, self-filling water bowls, and doggy bags upon request.

Filey Beach (Yorkshire) enforces seasonal restrictions on some parts of the beach - from the Royale Parade to the slipway. However, you are free to access the rest of the picturesque views with your pet all year-round.

Gerrans Bay (Cornwall) allows families and their dogs to access the sandy beaches of Towan and Pendower throughout the year.

USA's Best

The United States is one of the most dog-friendly countries in the world. It has plenty of parks, beaches, and tourist spots that cater to families with pets.

Lake Tahoe (California)

Lake Tahoe is an outdoorsy tourist destination with a cool mountain lake surrounded by miles of alpine backdrop. It is a great destination for families and pets who love to hike, sunbathe, and swim on a pebble beach.

Lake Placid (New York)

A dream destination for hikers is Lake Placid because of its wooded hiking trail around Mirror Lake and a dog-friendly beach.

Portland (Oregon)

Known as one of America's most walkable city, Portland is a great destination for dogs and owners. There are over 30 off-leash parks, scenic forest trails, as well as restaurants and winery tours that allow dog owners to take their beloved pooches along.

San Francisco (California)

Another dog friendly destination is San Francisco which offers plenty of hiking trails and parks. You can also take your furry friend on a cruise via Blue and Gold Fleet Bay Cruises or a ride on the famous cable cars. For wine-lovers, you can take your pooch to the Mutt Lynch Winery.

US Beaches

Arroyo Burro Beach (Santa Barbara, California) is located below the Douglas Family Reserve and currently the only legal beach in Santa Barbara that allows off-leash dogs.

Assateague National Seashore (Ocean City, Maryland) only allows dogs on the beach along the Maryland portion but are not permitted anywhere within the Virginia portion of the Assateague Island.

Gulfside Beach (Sanibel, Florida), also known as Algiers Beach, is one of the many dog-friendly beaches in Sanibel Island. It makes a great vacation destination for you and your pet since it is situated nearby a nature preserve.

Longport Dog Beach (Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey) is a free and off-leash beach that's open all year-round. Situated at the base of the Ocean Drive Bridge on the Longport side, this beach requires owners to bring their pet's own drinking water and waste disposal items.

The love and care for our beloved dogs extends to other activities involving the family. After all, dogs are family and will always play an important role in our lives. So, when it’s time for a family vacation, see to it that you check these and other dog-friendly vacation destinations to ensure that no one is left behind, most especially your four-legged family member/s.

@eurofile, Thank you for reading the article and for your feedback. Yes there are certain restrictions in popular UK beaches especially in the spring/summer months.

In the UK dogs are not allowed on some more popular beaches during the busy months, but over the winter, when there are less visitors, owners are allowed to take their dogs. Your article has useful suggestions.
