4 Tips on Moving - Moving Dollies and Organization

Updated on March 28, 2012

Moving Dollies

In the last year I have moved more times than I can count. I will be honest I don't even feel like unpacking anymore, but I am writing this Hub because I wanted to share a few tips I learned about moving.

I hope they help you in your future moves, because I know they definitely helped me.

  1. Moving Dollies save lives - Honestly I could probably put this as all the tips I would give because we bought 2 dollies and used them to move everything. We almost didn't have to even pick anything up.
  2. Besides moving dollies you will want to box up everything in the room you are moving it from. Label the box both from the room it came and the room it is going to. (This also means you will want to have a plan set aside for where things are going.)

Ex. Upstairs Bathroom - Family Bathroom etc.
  3. When moving the boxes again you want to move them and keep them organized by room. As soon as you get it to the new place put it in the room it is supposed to go immediately. That will help not having to move the items multiple times and cut down on time and effort used as well.
  4. Once you have everything packed up call friends, neighbors, and family. Assign each person to specific rooms and places they will be putting the boxes. (Example place those on the trailer and those in the Uhal etc.)

If you move this way no matter how much stuff you have it won't take you near as long. We have got moving down to an art...or more of a Science I guess. That and moving dollies are a life saver. You won't regret getting one!
