Five European Spring Break Adventures with a Difference

While many of your compatriots head off to beach resorts to get loaded and do things they'll soon regret, why don't you consider taking a Spring Break vacation with a difference? There are so many adventures to be had out there, and the only highs are the natural ones from having such an absolutely amazing time. (Only joking.) But there will still be time to enjoy some drinks, partying and music in the evenings, after your days out having adventures in the real world. Here are some of the wacky, out-there activities you could choose, about as far away from beachside, fun-in-the-sun boozing as you could get:

This is a hiking holiday with a difference. This strange landscape is like something from Middle Earth. The Soomaa National Park is a place of raised mires, rivers, floodplain and grassland. Kuresoo bog is the largest in the country. A striking range of species make this place their home. Come here during their 'fifth season' to walk on board walks through the wetlands when the waters are high after winter snow melt and all sorts of plants and animals are flourishing.

There are many different outfits offering skating tours in various cities. Paris, Copenhagen, Barcelona. We may still not have any hover-boards yet, but why walk when we can go around on little tiny wheels?

Zip World, in Snowdonia National Park, in Wales, is home to the longest zipline in Europe. If you are looking for somewhere to experience the thrill of a high wire whoosh down stunning mountainside scenery then the proud country of Wales could be the best place to come.

The rivers and mountains of Montenegro are some of the most special in Europe and all the better for being slightly less well known than other tourist destinations. The Tara River rushes down through the largest canyon in Europe. It is perfect for rafters both novice and experienced, with plenty of gentle or white water experiences to be had.

The ancient landscape of the Scottish Highlands and Islands have been worn down by millennia of wind, ice, and weather into the beautiful rugged formations that we see today. Kayaking between the crinkled coast and inner Hebridean islands can be one of the best wild adventures in the world. Check the weather, and if you are inexperienced make sure you go with a guide. You would not want to stray accidentally into a dangerous strait, or get sucked in by the infamous Corryvreckan Whirlpool!

These are just some of the wacky adventures you could have in Europe. Plus, on top of all that outdoors fun, you could sample all the local drinks of an evening. Whisky in Scotland, brandy (Loza) in Montenegro, Welsh beer or cider in Wales, local wines say, in Paris or Barcelona, or a traditional vodka in Estonia. Be warned: a distillery in Estonia has produced the strongest and purest alcohol in the world. Take it easy! But the combination of welcoming people, exciting activities and evening fun could just make this the best spring break ever!
