While is it winter in the northern hemisphere, it is summer in Australia. 3. Australian Open (Jan 19 - Feb 1)

The only one of the four Grand Slam events held in the southern hemisphere, it is also the first Grand Slam to be held the year. Its attendance rate is second only to that of the US Open.

4. Australia Day (Jan 26)

Australians celebrate their national day (Jan 26) with a whole day of fun in the sun. In Sydney, people gather along the picturesque Sydney Harbour to watch the celebrations on the water.
