Friday Night at Lightning Strikes Bowling Alley in Trussville, Alabama
Family Fun Center
Lightning Strikes, is located in Trussville, Alabama and it has a huge bowling alley, pool hall, laser tag, dart boards, concession stand and arcade, complete with all types of games for children and adults. Something for everyone can be found here, and the atmosphere is family oriented. Music is played over the sound system but, it's not too loud. The music near the lanes is different than the music in the arcades.
Birthday parties, social events, and business gatherings can be scheduled at Lightning Strikes. It's a huge building and it can accommodate hundreds of patrons. No smoking in the building and the building is handicap accessible.
Bowling Can Be Sport or For Hobby
Have You Tried It?
Have you ever been bowling before?
Ten lanes of bowling are available for bowling and, the competition gets stiff during tournaments which occur monthly. Each lane has a nice seating area for up to 12 people to sit comfortably. Drinks, snacks and spirits can be consumed in the bowling area which is a nice touch. The lanes have big screens above them that show the scores and, it also breaks down each player's actions as they happen. The computer screens are very animated with a little cartoon man running around and, the sound effects during play are awesome.
Cosmic bowling is on Wednesday nights and bowling training classes are available upon request. It is fun to play cosmic bowling in the dark without the lanes lit up. If you are there to watch tournaments, it can get loud and intense. The black lights blink on and off and neon lighting is all around the lanes.
Some of the more serious bowlers bring bowling shoes from home but, the bowling center supplies them for you once you pay for a round of bowling. The lanes are regulation size and like with all bowling lanes, be careful because, they are slick so use caution, when rolling the ball.

Arcades, Billiards and Laser Tag
The video game arcade at Lightning Strikes has a wide variety of games and entertainment including games that give tickets to exchange for gifts. Air Hockey is at he center of the arcade and it always has a group of players hanging around. Classic arcade games such as Pacman and Donkey Kong are in the arcade along with more up to date games such as a virtual realty type shooting game.
Skeeball and a dance machine are two of the more famous games. The dancing game has two players competing for the best dance by lighting up the dance floor. Racing, fighting, sports and kid's games are all inside the arcade. Shooting basketball and racing the cars are also very entertaining to say the least. New games are added here and there which keeps the arcade fresh and new.
Pool tables are on site for playing billiards with friends. You can bring your own pool sticks and chalk or use the ones that the pool hall area supplies for free. Pool is popular on the weekends and the lines can be long. The two tables are regulation size and one is green felt, while the other is red felt top.
You earn tickets from some of the video games that can be traded in for necklaces, bracelets, toys and other minor trinkets.
Laser Tag- Laser Tag has music, sound effects, special effects, grey fog, lasers and of course, laser guns. The Laser Tag game is two stories high and it's a fun game of cat and mouse.
* I would love to hear any stories about bowling, billiards or laser tag that you may have. Please leave comments in the capsule located at the bottom of this article.

FEMA Tornado Recovery Center
FEMA used the Bowling Alley in Trussville, Alabama for housing people, distributing first aid supplies, giving out food during the tornado recovery effort in 2011. During Alabama's worst ever tornado outbreak, this was a nice gesture given willingly by total strangers. This was a selfless act of kindness during a difficult time for the state of Alabama.
Food, drinks, medical attention and an area for sleeping was supplied for the people who were affected by the horrible tornado outbreak in 2011 that killed over 200 people and left many more homeless and struggling. The state is still recovering till this day but, that month of help from the bowling alley was a big deal and it will never be forgotten.
Lightning Strikes Food Assortment
Concessions and Gifts
The food court serves pizza, burgers and fries but their is also a gift shop right behind it. You can purchase all the bowling supplies imaginable here. Of course it also has pool sticks, pool ball sets, and dart boards among other hobbies.
Bowling wise the shop has bowling balls, bags, shirts, gloves, shoes and small accessories and novelty items about bowling, Billiards and video games. It's located at the entrance area of the Fun Center and the stuff is very nice although it's a bit pricey.
As far as the food court goes the cheeseburgers and fries are excellent but the pizza is average at best. Can't comment on the other food because those are the only three items that I've tried besides beverages.
