Garden of the Gods in Fort Collins Colorado Is a Must See

Updated on November 26, 2017

I was living in Texas when I met my husband on an online dating site. He lived in Washington State. We communicated for a year before I quit my job and closed my apartment. I didn't have any confidence in me driving from Texas to Washington State so I found a place to store my car and what belongings that I didn't take with me. So I left Texas on June 20th, 2009. In August of 2009, my husband's grandma and I took a greyhound bus to pick up my car. We arrived in Texas on a Saturday and stayed with my family over the weekend then headed back home to Washington on Monday. On the way, we decided to stay overnight in Colorado before continuing our journey. We took our time going home since my grandmother and I were taking turns driving. We only stayed overnight once and the rest I drove through the night while gram slept. So we stayed overnight at the first nice hotel we came to as soon as we exit the freeway. It was fun. The next morning we decided to visit the Garden of the Gods before continuing our journey. It was worth the visit.

This is the website for the Garden of the Gods. You need to check it out.

They are open everyday. Their winter hours are 8am to 5pm while their summer hours are 8am to 7pm. Even though it is free to get into the park and the visitor center, there are some programs and tours you will have to pay for. When you need a break from having fun, stop in at the cafe where you can quench your thirst and enjoy great food. There are so many things to see and do. Some of the things you can do are:

-see their interactive exhibits

-Trails and hiking

-Rock climbing

-Jeep and segway tours

-Nature Walks

-Guided walks and much more.

There are even events for children for example they have field trips which include three different programs for K-6 and adventure programs for 9-12. There are even field trips for the homeschoolers. Some of the programs includes the Geology of the Garden of the Gods, meet the Park, Explore the Park and the History and Ecology of the Park.

You can even reserve a place at the cafe to enjoy an American Indian dance while enjoying great food. There is even information on their website that explains the rules and regulations in case you want to know.

Then before leaving for the day, check out their gift shop which is open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm except for holidays and was voted the "Best in Colorado Springs". This shop offers something for all ages from souvenirs to handmade items with an option for shopping online.

This is me looking like I am holding up this giant rock. It was fun and the view was majestic.
