Gold Panning Dahlonega Hobby or are These Guys Getting Wealthy?
Gold Panning Hobby or Part time Job?
Gold Panning at the Crisson Gold Mines in Dahlonega, Georgia
Take a look at the video to the right, and you will get a good feel for what this place is like. I really enjoyed doing something a little different in the North Georgia Mountains. I typically come up here for the fishing, hunting, and camping. For years i have just passed by the little Pan For Gold spots thinking thats just kids stuff, but just on a whim i said what the heck, and pulled in just to try it out, and found the experience to be very interesting.
This place has gold mining information for the absolute beginner, to the full blown money making enthusiast. As far as hobbies go, this is a good one. It is very challenging, your up in the mountains in the wilderness, and it's excellent mild not too strenous excercise. The folks here are very friendly, and willing to show you how everything works. They have everything from gold panning maps to manuals, to some really cool equipment.
This is a perfect place to take the kids or family for a partial day, and actually it would fall on a place for a different budget and cool places to take a date. there are picnic tables so you can pack a lunch. In all as a family outing it would be about a two hour event, but it's right in the town of Dahlonega, so you can go into the town of Dahlonega and walk around all the shops.
Getting There:
Go straight up Ga. 400 North from I-285 until 400 ends, then turn left. This will take you straight into Dahlonega. Ask anyone where the Clisson Gold Mines are. Everyone knows, they have been there forever.
It's about an hours drive outside of Atlanta.
