If you’re single, swiping through possible prospects on several online date apps, and afraid to devote an entire Friday, or Saturday night to a date with a stranger, I’d like to recommend Cedarhurst Café as a cool, and casual meeting point.
This quant café located in New Haven’s Ninth Square is so much more than just a typical coffee shop.
Cedarhurst Café offers custom crafted coffee, and tea, breakfast all day, sandwiches, salads, vegetarian dishes, custom smoothies, and freshly baked goodies such as scones, muffins, and cookies.
The Tanzanian Furaha (Light Roast) coffee will make you happy, even if your date doesn’t. The name Furaha means happiness. This coffee is a product of the Hope Project that operates in the Mbeya Region, where some of the finest arabica coffees of East Africa are produced. It is mellow and brews smooth with a light nutty flavor. To try Cedarhurst’s light roast coffee, or any of their other fresh, and fairly priced brews; check them out anytime because their open daily until 5p.m.
If you’re not a coffee drinker try a smoothie. Cedarhurst will blend one of their signature smoothies with fresh fruit, and other ingredients, or they will customize any smoothie item to your liking. For a quick pick-me-up after a Saturday morning workout I recommends avocado, almond milk, and a little honey paired with a bacon egg and cheese on an English muffin, or the refreshing avocado salad.
If the date is going well Cedarhurst has plenty of comfortable seating. Grab a bar stool by the window, eat, and admire the gorgeous architecture that surrounds this delicious little nook in New Haven. Or, if you’re feeling anxious about online dating, take a load off on a giant yoga ball. It’s not exactly customary to bounce while you eat, but it’s definitely a good conversation starter.
The rustic, homey atmosphere Cedarhurst has to offer is the perfect place for not just a first date, but any date.
