Haunted Walks in Cornwall

Whether it's approaching Halloween, or you're just looking for something different to do, then ghost tours can provide some great entertainment, especially if they're ghost tours after dark.

With Cornwall having a lot of ghosts, it stands that there will be quite a number of ghost tours, haunted breaks and haunted walks to be enjoyed. This page is a collection of haunted walks, some permanent, some seasonal, which you can investigate.

Most of these guided ghost tours will require booking - and because of the nature of these ghost walks you should always at least contact the organisers to ensure there have been no changes to the plans as changes can occur at any time for many reasons.

The information below has been compiled with the best of intentions and I am afraid I cannot accept any responsibility for any of these events going ahead or being over-subscribed.  Always phone before you set out on your journey, especially if you are travelling long distances.

Adult Halloween Haunted Nights

Quite a few of these haunted walks and ghost tours are intended for adults, adult halloween haunted nights range from late evening ghost walks through to overnight experiences, such as the Haunted Night at Bodmin Gaol.

Adult halloween events are often longer than daytime events with children and are a lot spookier too!

Bodmin Jail Ghost Walks, Cornwall

Bodmin Jail, built in 1779, was originally built for King George III. It was built from 20,000 of local granite and was built by the prisoners. During its history Bodmin Jail held the Domesday Book in safe-keeping.

Bodmin Jail is an all-weather family attraction, but also a licensed bar and restaurant. There is also a Civil and Naval Prison, housing a museum within its walls split over three levels.

Bodmin Jail was the last County Jail in Cornwall, finally closing in 1927, it is is located at the start of the well-known Camel Trail cycle trail.

Bodmin Jail Paranormal Ghost Walk Nights

The Bodmin Jail Ghost Walk Nights are fascinating and different. This is an all night event running from 22:30-07:00 the following morning. so you are staying up all night.

You'll arrive at the Jail at about 22:30, to be met by a professional psychic medium. There are then a series of psychic and paranormal workshops to enjoy, giving you a better understanding of the paranormal field. Tea and coffee are available throughout the night. If you arrive earlier in the evening, you can book into the restaurant for a full dinner.

For the actual all night haunted event, you are encouraged to bring your own snacks and drinks with you as no food is available to purchase through the night (although you can't bring alcohol with you).

You'll need warm clothes, a torch and a camera.

By 7am you'll have had an entire night's fun and the event finishes with a full English breakfast

Resident Medium

There is now a resident medium at Bodmin Gaol, offering After Dark events.

Bodmin Jail put on a lot of ghost nights around about Halloween each year.

      To: St Ives Ghost Walks.

I've tried to update the information, but found your site a struggle to read (purple on black) ... and I couldn't find the address at all... I've updated the website though and prices.

Just came across this and saw the comment about St Ives Ghost Walks and the guide not turning up. This would certainly not have been us, as we always go and have even gone with one person before in a thunder storm, because if you advertise it is so unprofessional not to honour that. We don't want to be confused with people who would act so unprofessionally.

We were the original walks, since 1999 and people do unfortunately confuse us with another walk that began later in St Ives.

Also please update your information as you have the wrong phone number, pricing, etc.

For up to date, visit - thanks

That is appalling Sue. Some people just don't care about customer service it seems.

I hate booking onto things as they're so often cancelled at the last minute - I'm on a course in the next 2-3 weeks which is 200 miles away and I daren't book a B&B until the very last minute as providers of services just don't seem to care about people's time/cost of travelling.

I hope your journey wasn't entirely wasted and you found something else (better!) to do with your time. After travelling for 2 hours I think I'd have paid the extra £6 myself, then given them a bad review :)

I drove for 2 hours to attend the St Ives Ghost Walk (after ringing to check that it was still on the previous evening) and then we were told that he wasn't going to hold it as there was only 5 of us there and he HAD to have 6 to create "an atmosphere". More likely he wouldn't go out for £30 but would for £36. Unreliable tour.

I've been to Poldark and Bodmin Jail and I would really recommend both of those.

      Hi Paradise7

Cornwall is fantastic, full of myths and legends, this list of ghost walks in Cornwall might be a great idea for a weekend haunted break in Cornwall! Halloween is on a Saturday in 2009 so it falls nicely for that.
