Holiday Inn Express Review - in Oroville, California
Just Outside of Chico, California
In Butte County California, the county seat is Oroville. Oroville is a small town, with a population of about 15,000 people that live thirty minutes outside of Chico and ninety minutes from Sacramento. A sunny, little town, Oroville offers a quiet respite just outside the city center of bubbling Chico and beyond the urban spread of Sacramento.
Staying at The Holiday Inn Express in Oroville
During a recent trip to Oroville, California, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. This comfortable mid-level hotel is one of a chain that offer a full "Express Start" breakfast with attendant on duty in a large self-serve dining area that includes TVs, an indoor pool and hot tub, an exercise room, and a business center.
The breakfast area was well kept and tidy but the pancake maker was broken. The rest of the food choices included yogurt, boiled egg, sausages, scrambled eggs, toast and pastries options, cereal, oatmeal, biscuits with gravy, juices, coffees, and tea. This is not an on-site restaurant but a self serve breakfast buffet.
A Comfortable Room For The Night
Beat the Oroville Weather With Indoor Options
The pool and hot tub were located inside the hotel and the water was heated to a cool swimming temperature. Family friendly, towels were available poolside. The air conditioned exercise room offered modern equipment choices.
The weather temperatures in Oroville can rise into the high 80's as early as late April in any given year. By summer time, the temperatures can easily reach the 100's. The best time to visit Oroville is in the spring or fall of the year.
Holiday Inn Express - Rooming in Style
The room was very comfortable and spacious. The beds have good linens and a choice of firm or soft pillows. Making pillow choices matters. After accidentally choosing a firm pillow, I awoke to a neck ache! But this was soon relieved by the spacious shower and large bathroom. The television service offers ample channels with excellent reception. A micro kitchenette includes a sink, microwave, hotel fridge, coffee maker, and cabinets
I requested housekeeping to attend to the room during my lunch hour and was pleased to find the room in good order when I returned from dining. There are many fast food and budget-friendly restaurants in Oroville - some within walking distance of the hotel.
