Hotel Ohm Patt Review Boppard, Germany
A True Gem in Boppard, Germany
Looking for a place to stay along the German Rhine River? Boppard's Hotel Ohm Patt is a treasure. There are plenty of reasons why this is an award-winning hotel.
My family and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in May and could not have been happier with our stay. From the moment we walked in the door, the owner, John, made us feel like part of the family. I've never felt so welcomed while traveling.
The service was above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. Here are just a few of the examples when John and Karin went above and beyond expectations.
On a day trip to another little town along the Rhine, I tasted the BEST dessert ever. Back at the hotel, I explained the dessert to Karin, hoping they could help me put a name to this little slice of heaven. Later that night, she had printed off a copy of the recipe and told me the dish was called Bienenstich, literally translated as Bee Sting. That alone was above the call of duty, but the best was yet to come. When I came down for breakfast a couple days later, John said he had something for me. Karin had told him how I was enamored by the Bienenstich, so he had went to the market and surprised me with dessert. Wow! Does it get any better than that?
Actually, yes, it does. Our traveling party consisted of me, my husband, our two young kids and my mother. On our last night in Boppard, my husband and I were talking about going out for a nice dinner , just the two of us. We were discussing with John where we should go and what we should do. He also heard us talking about what we would do about dinner for the kids - if we should take them to dinner first, bring them dinner before we went out, or ask my mom to take them to dinner. Ever the consummate host, John said he would be making dinner soon and would be happy to bring them dinner and assured us that it would not be an imposition. We accepted his hospitality and enjoyed a dinner out while John prepared a scrumptious dinner of sausages and potatoes for my mom and kids. He even brought up ice cream for dessert. Again, I ask, can it get any better?
Nightly rates average about $100 a night USD
It Still Keeps Getting Better
I could go on and on about the great things I loved about this hotel and the service that John and Karin provided, but I'll try to sum it up.
Breakfast was splendid - John made sure there were fresh eggs for the kids each morning. One lucky day he even served Mimosas at breakfast. Did I mention I loved staying here? In fact, we originally had booked for only 3 nights but fell in love and decided to cut our next spot short just to stay another night at Hotel Ohm Patt.
The rooms were very clean and a great value compared to the rest of our trip in Rome and Paris. We stayed in a triple room, but it was actually two separate rooms with a shared entrance (basically a suite). It was exactly what we were looking for.
I almost don't want to tell everyone how nice this place was for fear that it will get overcrowded and be forced to cut down on service or raise prices. It is truly a gem - I can't say enough good things about our stay.
