How Powerful is France.

France is very powerful; France ranks 4th on the National power index beating Japan but behind Russia, China and the United States, this is primarily because of France's position in global politics and it's advanced military technology.

Organisations

France is a permanent member of the United Nations and is part of the security council. France can apply veto power on the same level as Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom, this means that it is highly unlikely the UN would move against France's interests etc. because it has such good relations with these nations.

France is also a full NATO member and a founding member of the European Union.

Economy

France is now the third largest economy in Europe after the UK surpassed France to become the second largest economy in April 2015; Germany still remains the 1st largest economy in the region.

14 African Nations use a currency named the CFA Franc which has direct links to the National Bank for France. France is booming in every business sector, from Car manufacturing to pharmaceuticals.

The French GDP growth chart, as you can see France is slowly recovering from the worldwide recession which as you can see began in mid 2008. It isn't growing as fast as most European nations such as the United Kingdom and Germany.

Military

France's military although it is massively smaller than the United States and Russia etc. When it comes to Europe, France is the second most powerful nation in the region after the UK which is 1st. France also has the largest army in the region with around 220,000+ active troops. The French army features nuclear submarines, an aircraft carrier, long range nuclear missiles and approximately 15 military bases around the globe.

France is the 5th largest arms exporters in the world and saw a 30-32% increase in weapon sales in 2013.

The French army is one of the most technologically advanced armies in the world.

Can France Keep It Up?

France overall is slowly diminishing, France is seeing a lot of cuts in things like their military budget, and also they've been surpassed by the United Kingdom economically. France has also cancelled plans to build certain military aiding projects such as a new aircraft carrier, the nation has also seen a reduced air force from 300 planes to 225 plans.

France may have been a strong scary superpower in the past but today's France is a lot more weaker in terms of other nations which means they are becoming less effective in global political issues.

France may slowly just be losing it's power status to other nations after many years of dominating the world stage and affairs.
