How to Get Coupons for Airbnb

Updated on June 23, 2019

The Newest Airbnb Promotion

Airbnb is running a promotion to inspire people to use them for the first time. These coupons are for $40 off $80 or more. Many Airbnbs are only $20 a night so you could get 2 nights free.

These coupons are offered when you start a new Airbnb account. If you already have one, its ok, just sign out and start a new account. They allow more than one.

Get Discounts By Staying Longer!

-If you plan on staying 1 week, you will probably get up to a 20% discount.

-You could get up to 35% off for staying over a month.

This helps if you were only going to stay 6 days. If you stay one more day you will save.

The best places with low prices will be the first to go so make sure you book early.

Ask The Host

Airbnb allows the host to offer their own coupons. You just need to ask them by clicking "contact host". The host will love to have your business and often offers a discount. Be sure to ask them for a discount if you are staying more than one night. It is also a good idea to contact them if your stay is last minute. They likely need to fill those rooms.

-Remember to click "Contact Host" do not click "Request to Book". Enter your dates and wait to be approved. Once you are preapproved, send them another message for the discount.

Try sending a message like this:

"I've looked at several Airbnb places, but I really love yours. Im on a budget for this vacation so I was hoping you could offer a discount. I totally understand if you cant but I wanted to ask."

Refer Friends!

You can share your referral link with your friends to give them $40 and you will also get credit. Lot into your account, go to your profile picture on the top right of the screen.

Click "Refer a friend".

You Can Trust Airbnb

-The Airbnb platform is very safe. They offer their users insurance and buyers protection.

-Use the "superhost" filter on their website to make sure they have a 4.8+ rating. At least look for places that have 4+ ratings to ensure you love your stay! Hosts and guests cannot see reviews until they have both submitted one.

-To ensure you have the absolute best location to stay, there is Airbnb Plus. Every home is verified with an inspection. These homes are welcoming with amenities.

Direct Booking

You may be able to get a discount by direct booking. Places on Airbnb are more expensive because they take a cut. I once saved $88 by going directly through the company.

Locating Your Airbnb

They do not show exact addresses. You can get a better feel for the area if you send a message to the host for the general location. You could send a message like this:

"Hi! Im Sara and I plan to go on vacation soon. I love your listing, however, Im traveling by myself. Ive been told to avoid 5th St. Is your Airbnb close to this? If it is, Im sure its great but not a good fit for me. Please let me know. Thank you!"

Sometimes they will give you the location. It would be very helpful if you are staying a month or more.

Airbnb Average Prices V/S Whats Important to You

A recent report found that renting an entire fully equipped home is about the same as just one hotel room.

It may not bother you on a weekend trip if the internet is shaky. This is a huge problem if staying for a month.

Be careful when searching the website that you filter by amenities. Once you have decided on a place you are encouraged by the site to book right then. Don't.

You should click on "Contact the Host" link and read the reviews. People renting and people who own the place review each other after a stay.
