How many Modes of Transportation, a PVC Pedal Car

Updated on August 10, 2010

At the Park

I went to the park, last Saturday and spent an hour just sitting around watching people.  And there was one thing I noticed, people love different kinds of transportation.  We use it of course to get from one place to another.  We also use it for recreation and for exercise.  So I thought I'd try to see how many modes of transportation I could see in one hour at the park.

It was very interesting to watch and see what people were doing. What they were using and how they interacted with each other and people around them.

River City Trolley

Trolley / Public Transportation

The first thing I saw was this trolley.

The trolley is public transportaion, in our town and very important for the town, because a lot of people use it.

Gotta love the Bike.

The next thing I saw was a couple bicycling along the path. It was a very nice day to be bicycling. I know a lot of people who use bicycling as a means of exercise. What a great way to get a little exercise, spend time with someone else, and see the sights around the park.

Scooters, fun!

Another great mode of transportation, I saw was scooters. Not much exercise, but hey they are a lot of fun to ride around.

And this couple seemed to be having a ball riding around and taking a look at the river.

That day was a pretty good day to be riding them also, because it wasn't particularly crowded and you could just ride around at your own leisure, without worrying about people in your way.

On the water.
On the water.

Of course, you can't go by river without seeing boats. There were a few boats running around the water, and it was really nice because it wasn't particularly windy so the waters were not too choppy.

The boaters seemed to be having a great time out on the water.

When you Can't walk.....

Motor Powered Wheelchair

We often take for granted the fact that we use our feet for transportation. However there are those who need something different. And what a great way to get around if you can't walk.  These motor powered wheelchairs, make it so much easier to be independent, when it is not possible to walk.

Unique Transportation

PVC Pedal Car, cool!
PVC Pedal Car, cool!

My Favorite, the PVC Pedal Car.

This was my favorite form of transportation that I saw that day. The PVC pedal care, it is made of bicycle parts and pvc pipe. This was a couple of older gentleman, who where out just taking a leisurely ride. I thought it would be a cool project to try to make one of those. I did a little research the plans cost about $18 dollars and it will hold around 350lbs. It just looks like lots of fun for kids and adults.

And not one flying saucer, shucks. What a fun idea Diane--out here we have a place called Venice Beach where you are likely to see skateboarders, wind surfers, jetskiers, parasailers, kayakers, Harley choppers, trains, skaters, planes, helicopters and blimps. I think some of these characters are even using out-of-body transportation. =:)

Thanks for the fun PVC bike idea.

Awww... Thanks Travel it was fun to try to do one in thirty minutes. This was one I had in my mind since I had the pictures, just wasn't sure what to do with them so I just thought I'd try the challenge.

This is great. What a fantastic idea for a hub and you've done it well!

I love doing this type of thing - just sitting and watching what's happening around you. I think you observe so much more that way.

Haha what an awesome topic. I never really thought about it but yes, there are many modes of transportation. I plan to have a little motorised buggy when I'm an old lady. =D Great work!

Love it. My mom and I like to sit in parking lots at the store and people watch and sometimes get some good laughs. The park is always fun for us too or maybe just the mall.

Pretty cool hub. Easy to read and quick to read. Interesting topic too. I too like to sit in the park and just watch people. I am forever watching people. I wrote a hub about it too. :) Thank you for taking part in the challenge. Maybe with a little more learning of hubbing you'll be able too finish 30 minutes. It's great work. Thank you. :)
