We enjoyed fishing, eating, time together and playing games as a family. It was one of the most memorable family trips although we kept it simple.

A family vacation in the Outer Banks, North Carolina where family created their version of #Baywatch. We called it "Blackwatch."

How to Have Fun With Your Family On Vacation

We arrived at my friend's beautiful home which we were able to rent for two weeks. This house is spectacular. It sits on the sound in the outer banks of #North Carolina. It has six bedrooms and seven baths. Every room has beautiful views of the water or wooded area which makes you feel as though you are on a cruise ship. With double wrap around balconies, you can see the moonlight glimmering across the water at night. The gentle sound and fresh breeze off the ocean makes you just want to sleep. There is nothing like being in a beautiful home rather than a hotel or resort. The privacy which includes a full #swimming pool, jacuzzi, and an elevator, gives you the feeling of pure luxury.

My family and I would start our day out fishing and catching crabs. We would use our fishing poles to catch fresh blue crabs right off the pier that is in front of this beautiful home. We would also use crab baskets but the most fun we had was catching the crabs with our fishing poles. By putting some rancid meat that had sat out in the sun, the crabs came in record numbers. Even my seven-year-old nephew would put "some stank" on the end of his fishing line and crabs would just show up. My family would scream and jump up and down because they were so proud of their catch. We caught bushels of crabs which allowed us to come in and cook them right on top of the stove in this simply elegant kitchen. We would cook the crabs as we ate our full breakfast. Our entire #family would sit at this huge dining room table and enjoy each other through food and fellowship. After breakfast, we would either take a nap or go and get in the private pool or jacuzzi. While in the pool we would entertain ourselves with songs that made our hearts rejoice.

For dinner, we would take turns cooking or just go out to one of the many restaurants. During the first week we spent there, each person would cook their favorite recipe. That recipe could be prepared for breakfast or dinner. No one felt overwhelmed or burdened to do this because we took turns. Some made pork chops, chicken, fried fish or mac and cheese. The variety of food was not only delicious but adventurous. It was nice to have a good drink with your dinner. Afterward, we could take that drink to the theater room and watch any movie we decided to watch. This was so encouraging to be able to fall asleep if you desired while watching a movie of your choice.

Renting a beautiful vacation home with your family is truly something I would recommend rather than staying at a hotel or resort. You truly create memories that will never be forgotten because of the privacy and the family environment. There are so many beautiful homes on and numerous other #websites where private owners are looking for renters for their beautifully located vacation homes. It was truly a time for creating memories that we will cherish forever. We recently stayed another week at the same house because it was just that much fun. So how do you catch blue crabs? With a fishing pole and "some stank" on some type of meat as your bait. The point is, just have fun and enjoy your family while you create memories that will never be forgotten.

Thank you for the vacation advice. Is the Outer Banks the place to go in North Carolina?
