Party Time in the Spring

Plan Ahead!

It is quite important and almost vital to plan ahead for your Spring Break especially when it comes to booking a hotel because you need a reservation or else you may end up staying at a place that doesn't meet your needs. The kids may laugh at the idea but, if you book a hotel room early you usually get a far better price than you will during April's Spring Break and most likely one of the best available rooms. There's a chance you might not get a room at all, if not booked ahead of time. Trust me, not being able to get the time requested during the time period that is needed this has happened to me on numerous occasions but, I have learned my lesson. I book in advance for vacation using, priceline.com for the most part.

Make A List: It is a great idea to write down everything you need for your trip and what you will be doing daily. If you have a list documenting your trip from start to finish you will be able to double check it and be fully prepared for each activity before you even hit the road. My mom always thought it was fun to plan for a trip. She would make up games to play in the car and she will get things together for a month or so before the trip even takes place. When we were younger, she used to make up games for the car ride. She would bring some food and some things to aid in cooking. My mom is a very organized person and likes for everything to be so-so. We grew up before the days of DVD players. She was great at keeping us entertained.

Budget: Properly budget your funds to cover gas, food, hotel and any other item that you deem necessary to have on your trip. Then set forth the rest for activities that are offered on your trip. You might try to set aside a certain amount per pay check to fund your Spring Break or if you are fortunate enough that maybe you can pack up at the drop of a hat. If you are on that tight budget, (and there is nothing wrong with that), you could bring a cooler along and pack it with drinks and a bag with some snacks for the road. This will keep you from stopping to eat at fast food restaurants while going on your trip. This will save you travel time and money. The flip side to that is that you may be required to stop for bathroom breaks more frequently.

Pack Accordingly: The beach is the most common vacation trip for spring break. Remember sun lotions, swim suits, goggles and flip flops. Don't forget those sunglasses! One thing you may want to pack is different medications. You may call me crazy but, if you happen to pay for a deep sea fishing trip you may want to plan on bringing some anti-nausea medications. Another good thing to have on hand is some Ibuprofen and Aloe Vera lotion in case of a severe sunburn. Additional medications could be Aleve for a headache, medication for an upset stomach of if anyone has asthma, make sure that they bring a rescue inhaler.

Another idea is to look online and see what events are coming for Spring Break. Each year artists from the music, film and art industries tour through beach states during Spring Break and it would be a shame to miss them for lack of planning. I went to Memphis, TN on a trip and during that time the display at the pyramid was The Titanic. The only reason that I would have known about this was to plan to see what events were taking place at that particular time.

It is best to plan to plan ahead by checking your vehicle and making sure it is in good working condition before taking a long trip. You want to make sure that you have good tires and that your oil change is up to date. That kind of sounds like harping but, it is a good idea to check these things out before traveling. Another good way to plan ahead is to book the room in plenty of time and plan ahead the food that you will bring as well.

I hope that you get to visit the beach soon!! There's nothing like it in my opinion. The sunny beach and the beautiful ocean.

Spring Break Chillin

Relaxing in the sun on the beach is a great way to spend a spring break. Cabanas are a great beach splurge that allows you to get in and out of the sun and it gives an area to store your things.
