INCREDIBLE INDIA

India is, the cradle of the human race, the homeland of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of folklore, and the great grandmother of tradition. Here are some amazing and incredible facts about India, just sit back and enjoy.


The postal service

  • India has the largest postal services and network in the world. It has 1,55,015 post offices. The floating post office was also initiated in 2011.

  • 250000000 kgs is the weight of the Bandra Worli Sealink which has accumulated the steel wires which equals the earth’s circumference.


    For cricket lovers

  • The Chail Cricket ground in Himachal Pradesh is at the altitude of 2,444 meters from sea level is the highest in the world.

    Shampoo

  • From the Sanskrit word ‘champu’ the word shampoo has derived. Initially shampoo was used by the method of herbs in the hair not as the commercial liquid ones shown in advertisements.

    Science day

  • The Indian Ex-President and the father of India missile programme, APJ Abdul Kalam, visited to Switzerland way back on 26th may 2006 and it was declared as Science day in Switzerland.

English English English

  • USA is the largest English Speaking country but second in the Line we have India where around 125 million people speak English.

    Vegetarians

  • Also with the population, India has the largest vegetarians in the world. Some are bound by religion while other may be by personal choices.


    Milk?

  • India is the largest producer of fruits and milk in the world. In 2014, around 132.4m tonnes of milk was produced.


So many people!

  • Kumbh Ka Mela’ a religious gathering occurs every 12 years in India is the largest gathering of people in the world. It is so huge that it becomes visible from space.

  • The India National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written by Rabindranath Tagore, also the National Anthem of Bangladesh ‘Amar Sonar’ was written by him.

    Inventions

  • India, the world’s largest democracy, is also the world’s largest oldest civilization. India invented the number system, zero was invented by Aryabhatta, Chess was invented here and Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus are studies, which originated in India. Buttons were also invented in India, yes yes your shirt buttons.

  • Also the famous snakes and ladders was invented in India to teach children the moral lessons about ‘karma´ and gradually became the very popular board games in the world.

    Studies

  • ‘Takshila’ was the world’s first university established in India in 700 B.C. Today, India has the world’s largest school in terms of students, the City Montessori School in Lucknow. It has more than 45 thousand students.

  • The word navigation is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘navgatih’. The art of navigation and navigating was born in River Sindh over 6000 years ago.


    Religion

  • India has 3,00,000 active mosques which is more than any Muslim country thus making it highest active mosques in the world. Also Islam is the India’s and the World’s second largest religion.

  • The world’s largest religious monument is the ‘Angor Wat’ in Cambodia which is 215 feet high. The proposal of the ‘Virat Ramayan Mandir´ is also kept which will be double the height of this largest religious monument.


Bollywood

  • India is also the largest producer of films in the world. Second in the line we have Nollywood and also the second largest employer in Nigeria.


    We are family

  • Ziona Chana of India is having the largest family in the world. He has 39 wives, 94 children, 14 daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren. Don’t ask about his work now..!!

  • Now don’t take this as any hospital’s advertisement as this is a true story. There are 31 doctors in a family. The daughter has passed the exam and is pursuing her course and will become the 32nd.


Weapons

  • India is the world’s largest importer of weapons but amazingly never invaded or attacked any country. Staggeringly the first rocket in India was transported on cycle.


Surely there is so much to look for. India certainly is a wonderful country.
