2nd Day in Indonesia, Surabaya (Mt. Bromo)
Day 2 :
SURABAYA→ PROBOLINGO → NGADISARI → CEMERO LAWANG (Initially Planned)
SURABAYA→ TOSARI → WONOKITRI →NGADISARI (alternative way took)
After breakfast in the hotel, we began our journey to Probolingo. We had our lunch at a luncheonette. I did not finish my fried noodle, it was too salty; and I tried really hard to finish my extremely sweet Jeruk (Lime juice).
It was raining heavily during previous day, and the routes to Probolingo were flooded, traffics were jammed there. We have to change our direction via Tosari to Wonokitri. Pak driver was not familiar with the road of this small town; he had tried some alternatives ways to go by some paths to Wonokitri. On our way to Wonokitri, we stopped at a path to take some photo of the view of farms (similar to Cameron Highland in my homeland Malaysia). We were able to stop a motorist selling durian. Some of our members just opened up the fruit enjoyed the durian on that spot.
Expenses on this journey:
*Taxi from Surabaya to Wonokitri – Rp350k
*Jeep from Wonokitri to Ngadisari – Rp300k
There are some guest house in Wonokitri, but we were not satisfy with the condition of the guest houses, so we have to continue our way to Ngadisari where initially we had planned to stay. The route from Wonokitri to Ngadisari is hilly, it’s impossible to go by sedan; we have to spend extra to travel by Jeep.
On our way to Yoshi guesthouse, we passed by Cemoro Lawang. It is very nice view of Bromo Plateau here. Lava View Lodge is another nice guesthouse around this area. The driver told us that Lava View Lodge is more expensive than Yoschi and in fact Yoschi located not far away from lava View, so we decided to go to Yoschi for another comparison.
Yoschi is a good place to stay. The rate is reasonable and it’s convenient to arrange travel packages of Mt bromo and transportation at the reception of the guesthouse.
After our early dinner in the restaurant of Yochi, we took a walk in the village. I loved the scenery and the tranquility and serenity of the village. The village is rather picturesque surrounded with vegetables farms and a lot of unique and brightly painted houses, some houses with flower beds outside.
Weather getting colder and the sky getting darker and misty, we went to the house of the bapak whom sell Bakso (Javanese food, Soup Noodle). This was the first time we tasted Bakso. I found it quite delicious and comfortable after eating this with the hot soup especially during a very cold evening in the village.
Some of our member experienced a great Balinese massage with a very reasonable price. But I didn’t try; I need to sleep early for our early wake up at 3am to get ready to go to Penanjakan for the sunrise view at the volcano.
