Mahogany Bay Carnival Cruise Roatan Honduras

Mahogany Bay Roatan
Outside the port
Even though the ports are always super nice, we prefer to do more on our vacations than simply buy stuff that we could get off of Amazon. We usually head outside the ports as quickly as possible, and try to see the surrounding areas and neighborhoods, so that we will know that we are truly in a different country. On the way out, we stop to play a few songs with friends we've made.
Soon we meet with our group of like minded individuals who can't be contained by the town itself. We load into a tour bus, and head for the open road.
He gave us a tour of the city and a general description of how the people there live their daily lives.
Into the jungle and mountains
Soon we begin to see what the real Honduras is all about. He takes a left turn here, and right turn there, and soon we are on a two lane road up the side of a mountain, into the jungle. We have booked a zip-lining adventure through the jungle, so we cannot wait to see to do it!
South Shore Ziplining Adventure
We eventually reach out destination on the very tip top of the mountain. The views are breath taking, the air is clear and clean, it is warm and humid, but not as much as we expected. We are greeted with friendly faces and very happy people. It must be nice to be that happy and still call it work.
Within moments we are suited up with all of the safety gear (safety harness, hat, and gloves) and given a brief demonstration by the staff on how to stay safe while riding the ropes. We all line up and begin to go along the course, from rope to rope, one by one, as we crawl our our way through the jungle.
We reach the highest, tallest, fastest line on the course, and it's a celebration! We did it!
And yes, that line in the background is the ocean. Absolutely beautiful view!
After the tour is over, we are taken back to the hut for refreshments and to turn in our safety gear.
I met a small monkey named Bingo.

Sadly, it's the beach.
We loved this beach. Absolutely beautiful, something right out of a postcard or google images. But sadly, it means our excursion on the Isla de Roatan in Honduras has come to an end. We are give about 2 hours to relax and take in the sun while sipping on our favorite drink. This is one of the few places that I could call home, outside of the U.S. My written words here will never fully describe it.
This short hub will never fully express the happiness that my wife and I experienced on this trip. It truly changed us forever, and it will forever be cherished in our memories. I would go back to this island in a heartbeat, but next time, I might not be able to leave. Until next time, Roatan.
