History and Geography of Lake Louise

Lake Louise is a small settlement in Alberta, Canada. Located near the Trans-Canada Highway and 180 KM west of Calgary and 57 KM west of Banff, Lake Louise is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta-4th daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of Duke of Argyll, John Campbell.

Inhibited by less than 1,000 people, Lake Louise is surrounded by three big snow capped mountains namely Mount Temple, Mount Niblock and Mount Whyte. Lake Louise is also called hiking capital of Canada as it presents the skiers the best downhill ski areas.
