Las Vegas Freebies: How to Get Drinks, Tickets, Club Passes, and More
If you Google "Las Vegas freebies," you'll doubtlessly get plenty of search results about:
- the Bellagio fountain show
- the trapeze performances at Circus Circus
- Recommendations advising you to "ask your hotel if they have a fun book with coupons."
I'm sorry, but to me, the Bellagio fountain show is not a freebie because it doesn't have a retail value, and I have yet to see a fun book containing a coupon I'd want to redeem.
This page is different. In this article you will find real freebies and deals that are good enough for locals to use. So, if you're interested in saving some money on your next trip to Vegas, read on!
1. Free Cocktails (Without Having to Play Slots or Tables)
It's common knowledge that you can get free cocktails while playing slots or table games. But if you're not into gaming and still want free high-end cocktails, check out the website spyonvegas.com.
Every weeknight, the Spy On Vegas organization hosts an open bar event at a location on or near the Strip. The free drinks are usually limited to whatever brand of alcohol is being promoted that night, but the promoted drinks are always free and the bar is always hopping!
2. Free Champagne at the Wynn
You've probably heard of FourSquare. If not, it's an app that allows you check-in to a venue using your smartphone. If you don't already use it, you should download it before you go to Vegas, as FourSquare check-ins have the power to unlock some great freebies.
One of my favorite freebies is the free champagne at Blush nightclub at the Wynn. To redeem your drink, just show your FourSquare check-in at the podium and receive a complimentary glass!
There are lots of great FourSquare freebies available at other casinos as well. O'Sheas and the Palms offer 2-for-1 drinks at select bars, and Imperial Palace offers a 2-for-1 buffet.
3. Free VIP Club Passes
Many times, you can get passes for VIP admission (which usually means no cover charge) for your favorite club. Please note that sometimes these passes are only valid for ladies. Don't take it personally guys, that's just the way Vegas works!
The best way to get VIP passes is to go to the entrance of the club you're interested in a few hours before they open. Some time between 7pm and 9pm is best. There should be a host or hostess standing outside the door. Ask them if there are any VIP/no cover passes available.
If you don't have any luck at the club entrance, try the front desk and concierge. Hotels usually hand out passes to guests in an attempt to get them to spend more time on the property.
Using the above method, I have been able to collect VIP passes to Tryst, XS, The Bank, Jet, Pure, Blush, and more.
3. Free Tickets to Shows
Before you read any further, be aware that you have to know someone with a Clark County, Nevada ID for this freebie to work.
If you know a Vegas local, free show tickets are available every night of your stay. Just ask your friend to sign up for the showtickets4locals.com mailing list. The website offers free tickets to shows on the Strip every night for local residents. Cirque du Soleil tickets are rarely available, but there's always a good selection of comedy and magic acts to choose from.
4. (Almost) Free Hotels
To book an extremely cheap hotel in Las Vegas, find out what mystery hotels are available on Priceline and Hotwire. If you're like me, you will love the prices on these websites, but bidding on an unknown four-star hotel "on or near the north part of the strip" can be risky.
Luckily, there are a few sites to help you predict what the mystery property is, such as betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com. On one these sites, travelers share what hotels they got on Hotwire and Priceline, and how much they paid for them. This is valuable information because you will likely get the same hotel, even if you book a different date.
If you're booking your reservation directly with the hotel and want to save some money, search the internet for promotion codes. If you find an active code, you can dramatically reduce the price of your stay.
