City Of Miami

Why do you think we're called the Sunshine State? And no other place in Florida exemplifies that as the City of Miami. Thinking of visiting Miami, Fl?. Miami's nice..really. Here are some pretty good reasons for visiting us.

Our climate is sunny and warm year round, with short mild winters. It is one of the most popular destinations for snowbirds and tourist attractions in the world, complete with cultural centers, bohemian staples, vast shopping malls, historic, and nature preserves combined with a vibrant never stops city scene. Not a crowded as other big cites like New York but just as popular and everything can always be found within a short ride.

Big movie & music moguls live here; Gloria Estefan, PitBull, Trick Daddy,Trina, Jackie- O, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna ,Enrique Iglesias amongst many others.

Miami is within Miami-Dade County, the most populous county in Florida and eight in the US. Miami is also one of the most populous cities in Florida*. And yes we do speak English although with a local rhythm particular to the area also known as the Miami accent*, remember that Miami is home to large populations of nationalities from all over the world including all of Europe & Asia.

The most populous groups however are from Spanish speaking countries. Mostly from South American and Central American countries with large Caribbean communities with the largest being Cuban. You see not everyone in Miami is Cuban (I am). But don't worry if you don't speak Spanish, you're still welcomed. You may even leave with having learned some Spanish words (probably curse words but words nonetheless).

Our city is one of the most diverse metropolitan areas in the world rivaling cities like New York. Most countries are represented by their culinary specialties, their music such as the rumba, salsa, merengue, bachata calypso, soca, vallenato, conga, and even rap. We are known as Cruise Capital of the World, Cuban Town, Little Havana, 305.

Places such as Coconut Grove, South Beach, Miami Beach, Coral Gables offer a plethora of dining, shopping and entertainment experiences. Multi-cultural events take place year round. Not to miss is "Calle 8" held in March from 11:00am to 7:00pm. The largest street carnival in the world, where you can experience all types of music, foods, and shopping. With 23 blocks of entertainment you need to forget your diet plans, wear comfortable attire (the less the better) and bring sunblock.

So next time you are in the mood for sunshine, want to see more sights than you can handle, meet beautiful people, eat you heart out (gain 20 pounds in the process), shop, go fishing, go to a real beach (with real sand) party like there's no tomorrow..remember Miami (the one in Florida)

I enjoyed your fine travelogue. I spent a lot of time In Miami in the past (1985-2005). I've played music there many times; done business there; and visited just for pleasure. I've been to Nikki Beach, Pearl, and The Clevelander. Miami is a great town for fun. It is full of beautiful ladies.
