The Great Minnesota Get Together
The Basic Facts
As the second largest State Fair in the country, (only Texas has a bigger one), The Great Minnesota Get Together is a big tourist attraction. People come from all over the country just to visit our fair. If you ever visit Minnesota, the week before Labor Day you have to make sure you check it out.
Even if you live in Minnesota, you never get tired of going to the State Fair. My husband and I always make a point of going there every year. Even more so now that we have a child. There's a lot of things to keep everyone happy and interested.
Some Things You Can See
Some of the things you can see here are your usual Midway rides, a little kids midway, any kind of food on a stick you can imagine, the usual animal barns, horse shows, there's even a barn where you can watch farm animals give birth if you want.
There's plenty of shopping around. Everything from your cheap souvenirs to high quality items like shoes and jewelry. Inside the Grandstand, they have 2 floors of shopping. There's demos going all the time and a lot of places offer what they call "State Fair Specials."
And, Of Course, The Food
On top of the food on a stick stands, there's actual restaurants on the grounds where you can get a real meal. Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. There's a beer garden with live entertainment, and a myriad of stages with different musical acts on it. There's also the Grandstand shows, where major acts come to play. All during the fair, there's a local talent show going on, and on the last day, the winners are announced. I try to make a trip to the fair every year. No matter how many times you've been there, you always have a good time.
