More Bamboo

More things made with bamboo

Bamboo in Xi'an

While walking around the streets of Xi'an I came across a little narrow street that sold all number of household items from plastic bowls, buckets, etc and right next door were the most amazing bamboo merchants I have seen in China.

Some shops had bamboo poles of all sorts of thicknesses, ready for someone to create something, and there were bamboo mats and pillows (popular to use during summer) and there were piles of bamboo baskets that are used to dry food (rice, vegetables etc), and rice steamers.

I love the little cots for babies, trays, chairs - the list goes on and on. It just shows you how useful bamboo is.

An interesting thought World Traveler. Thank you for your comment. I have considered having a small exhibition of some of them and I am having about 15 photos printed - large ones, (it is cheaper here in China) to take back home. I'm thinking of a book of some sort, but don't know where/how I could sell them. Did sell some through a website that went defunct and I didn't get the $$'s.

I really like your photos. You are so fortunate to be teaching in China! Please consider setting up a page to make your photos available for sale!
