Surigao City

This is the city where I was born in. My mom came from Mindanao while my father in Pampanga which is part of Luzon. Surigao is part of Mindanao found on the Northern tip part. But I never grew up here, after kinder my family transferred to Pampanga. Then, after years of studying in my Primary years, we moved back to Surigao where I studied High School until finishing my Bachelor's Degree.

Actually because of busy life and schedules even if I always stay in Surigao, I never had time to explore and visit the entire place. Not when I discovered hubpages. When I started writing here, I started to have interest in different places. So, from then on, I collected pictures and wrote my stories about my trips and first times.

This year I had a chance to visit my family after a long years away from them. So I thought of exploring the place where I was born in which I did not think to do it before when I was younger. So I'm gonna show you some pictures of my exploration. And it was amazing experience because I felt I'm a foreigner in my own land. The beauty of the nature of my hometown which I never appreciated before is now captivating and has caught my heart.

Let Us Go! I'm gonna tour you around...

Here are the different places you can visit in my hometown. From the city proper going to the exotic and natural beauty of nature. Enjoy!

The big old tree
The big old tree

Big Old Tree

It is located in Luneta Park Borromeo St. actually these are two trees facing each other at the entrance going inside Rizal park. The park is located at the center of the city near the city hall. The trees are really big when at night it is scary to look at just like in horror movie that you think of ghost staying there but during Christmas it is very nice because they put Christmas lights on it and become Christmas trees.

City Hall
City Hall

Surigao City Hall

This is the city hall of my hometown. This office is beside the metro surigao department store and luneta park located at the Rizal St. corner Borromeo St.. As you can see there is a big flagpole behind me because this is where the government employees conduct their flag raising ceremony during morning and retreat in the afternoon at the end of the day.

Metro Surigao
Metro Surigao

Metro Surigao Shopping Center

This is the shopping center across the city hall. As in, in front of city hall. Way back before they call it Jerry's shopping center long time ago. Me and my mom and my grandma always go there when I was young every time they buy me new clothes. Even until I become teenager, I always go there alone or with my friends for window shopping or if I have money to buy some stuff I like.

big shoe at the luneta

Gigantic Shoe

This is a giant shoe at the luneta park. This is only one, no partner at all. My friend asks me to pose one shot but I did not do it nicely. I was about to jump, but my friend caught it wrong timing. But, our purpose is to get the gigantic shoe, not actually me.

San Nicolas De Tolentino Cathedral
San Nicolas De Tolentino Cathedral

Our Church

This is the Catholic church where I was baptized. I always go to church every Sunday and special holidays since when I was younger until I become a member in an organization called Oasis of Love where I always attend the prayer meeting every Wednesday. This is across luneta park and beside St. Paul University (my school in college).

Surigao City Grandstand
Surigao City Grandstand

This is located at Rizal St. beside the Provincial Gym. I remember when I was younger, I always go there just to sit on the bench because it is just across my grand mom house. But today, you can not enter anymore without fee or donation. During fiesta many people are watching the Bonok Bonok, a street dance competition portraying the life of the tribe in a way of dancing on streets. The final showdown will be inside of this grandstand.

Provincial Capitol
Provincial Capitol

Provincial Capitol

This is far from the city hall. This is the office of the Governor. Before there was a mini forest beside this structure but because of one incident way back before where the life of the Governor was in danger (someone tried to shoot the Governor), they close it for public. In front of this office is the Provincial convention where you can hold seminars and big events.

Let's go beyond the city!

Ok, let's go to beaches and islands. A lot to visit in the city but many are interested in the ocean like me. Below is the photo gallery of my beloved paradise. Hope you enjoy the views!

Mabua Pebble Beach Resort

Kapihan Nature Park

Hidden Garden Resort

Club Tara Resort

Jelly Fish Sanctuary

Sohoton Cave

Many Places to visit in Surigao Del Norte

Yes, and I only had few to show because I never had chances to visit the other islands like Siargao Island, Dinagat Island and a lot more. Next time, If I've given a chance I'm gonna take all enchanted views.

Kim, many a times we are unable to appreciate the beauty of our own places. We are used to it. It is only if we visit it after a long gap, we understand certain places better. Many a times changes take place which we are not aware of or some comparisons are made with new places we have seen. I really enjoyed reading about your home town. It has beautiful places in and around. Thanks for sharing.

You do a great marketing job for your city and your country. I would especially like to see Kapihan Nature Park and stop at the Big Old Tree along the way!

Thanks RealityTalk. I wish you can visit it too. Yeah, traveling is kinda hard if little money on pocket. You have to plan for it and save for it. I wish you read more, thanks if you have interest in reading about Tacloban and Manila.

Your home looks beautiful. I hope someday I can visit your area of the world. I'm 56 years old and the furthest I have traveled from my home in the States is Cancun. I have always been interested in traveling the world, but a shortage of money and a young family to raise makes it impossible at least for now. I will have to read your Hubs on Tacloban City and Manila.

Yes indeed! Thanks for the compliment. I just realize this month why not take pictures of my own place rather other places. Of course others are very nice too, what I mean is include my place hehehe. You must visit the place to experience it. I don't take pictures of the beauty of the nature without the model, me hahaha because that will be my remembrance to look at when I become older as in very old someday. And maybe this is my chance to become a model? so I grab it. hahaha Just kidding:) Thanks
