Mystic Pizza

If you are planning your next vacation destination any time soon, why not consider visiting the northeastern united states, that is unless you have seen most of this area already. But If you haven't than by all means do not forget to include an area in the northeast sometimes referred to as the constitution state. Or to many the state of Connecticut.

You may have never visited the Northeast corner of the U.S. and possibly have never have even visited the state of Connecticut. And if you haven't lately, than when you do get a chance to visit this state, do not forget to visit Mystic. Mystic Connecticut is one of those quaint little seaside villages located fairly close to Long Island Sound. It is also easy to get to, because it is directly off of I-95 North. So if you are on your way up to New Hampshire or Maine for example, located a bit further north, than you will most likely pass Mystic on your way through. And if you do, don't forget to get off of the exit, believe me you'll be glad you did.

So what makes Mystic Connecticut so special, or even interesting for that matter? Mystic or Mystic seaside village, as it is sometimes called; is one of the oldest and historic villages in the U.S. It was also known as a whaling village and is famous for its old whaling vessels and schooners. These vessels can all be explored in more detail in downtown Mystic. As you walk along the many docks along mystic harbor. You will be taken back in time, and visualize how those brave men fared the seas in search for the giants of the sea. As Captain Ahab had once did, in his search for the great white whale, Moby Dick. Here you and your entire family can enjoy all of the exhibits there, at the Mystic Seaport Museum. You will not even have to pack a lunch, because they have a nice restaurant on the premises. They also have a miniature planetarium located on the property, where you can take a quick peak, at some of our own Sun's celestial neighbors, if you get tired of walking the plank upon exploring the old wooden schooners.

Mystic is also known for it's famous Pizza Cafe in downtown Mystic, just beyond an old drawbridge, which opens every hour on the hour. Mystic Pizza was made famous by popular Actress Julia Roberts. It is here that Miss Roberts, made one of her first movies-Mystic Pizza. So just remember if you happen to be heading downtown to get a slice of pizza, don't forget to remember to do so either before or after the top of the hour. Or else you may get a little hungry waiting for this bridge to open and than close. But than again you may even get a glimpse of Julia Roberts during your wait, that alone would be worth waiting for your pizza. You also have the option of parking your car along the curbside. And from there you can investigate the many quaint little shops which straddle the sidewalks. Believe me whether you are up town or even in downtown Mystic, you will never get bored. There are so many things to do and window shopping alone will take you through a good part of the day.

And if shopping is your bag than I suggest you visit the Old Mystic Village after your trip downtown. Here you will find over 100 shops that will cater to all of your gift needs. Old Mystic Village is right off of Whitehall avenue. Whitehall avenue is the main road, that also runs along a strip of popular hotels and restaurants. So before you even think about checking out all of the fun things to do. Don't forget to make a reservation at one of the popular hotels there, because at the end of a long, tiresome day of visiting attractions and shopping...hitting your pillow will feel so good.

Among a few of the more popular hotels you have to choose from, are the Days Inn, Howard Johnson's, The Ramada and of course my favorite, The Comfort Inn. As you may have guessed, I have visited Mystic CT. in the past. And if you assumed this, than you are correct. I consider Mystic CT. my home away from home and visit this beautiful little resort town at least one time during the year. Also while you're busy strolling around the village, like nobody's businss either with your entire family, or a friend, you will find everything in the way of gifts at the village. If your fancy is a fine pair of leather moccasins or even a pair of turquoise earrings, you will have no problems in finding items like these and much more among the many shops here. And if you are a cat or dog lover, well they even have stores that cater to your pets needs as well.

But please do not forget about the kids if you are entertaining, the young ones on this particular trip. Just like us adults, kids get tired of shopping and need some more motivational sights, to feast their eyes on. And to add-so do us big kids from time to time. A short walk across the parking lot, will take you away from your nightmarish shopping spree and find you quickly amused by Beluga Whales, Sea Lions, Penquins, Dolphins and every other kind of sealife you could imagine. Yes, do not forget to visit the Mystic Marine Life Aquarium, which will without a doubt be one, if not the busiest day of your mini-vacation to Mystic.

The Marine Life Aquarium is open to the public daily and usually has Seal, Sea lion and Dolphin shows every couple of hours during the day, rain or shine. The Aquarium also has a variety of outdoor nature exhibits along its intertwined boardwalks. And yes, for those of you who may have fast metabolisms, there is also a food hut there, where you can purchase a sandwich, hotdog, or hamburger and drink. If you forgot the camera back at the hotel-don't worry; they also have their own gift shops which among other things, sell disposable cameras.

And after you have visited the many spendors found swimming about, at the Marine Life Aquarium and explored all of the nooks and crannies, both inside and out. Than why not take the family back out across the parking field. On the opposite side of the Aquarium complex, there is a nice restaurant that offers great seafood by the name of GO-FISH. This restaurant, better known for its great seafood, also has some fine Italian food, which will go well with a nice glass of red wine. And if you have picky little eaters with you, than asking for a separate side-dish for them, that doesn't look like it came from the sea, will not be a problem, because you'll find it on their menu too.

After you have finished dinner and are not up to dessert, why not take your family or guest out to the movies. Next door you will find a fairly large indoor theatre where you will have the option of choosing from of the latest and most popular movies that recently hit the Big Screen. Why not have your dessert at the movies while you enjoy a good movie over a large bag of popcorn, maybe some raisinettes and your favorite beverage. What a great way to finish out a long day visiting the many shops and attractions that this quaint little village has to offer.
