Naples, Florida- A Vacation Get-A-Way
My husband and I chose Naples, Florida as a honeymoon spot two years ago. We loved it so much we decided to try and make it a yearly anniversary trip. Naples is different from the huge Florida tourists city like Orlando and Miami. Considered a retirement community, it is more laid back, yet still a fun location for your romantic get-a-way. Here is my list of favorites in Naples.
We have only stayed at the Naples Bay Resort and have no plans to try another hotel. This resort is made up of privately-owned suites and cottages. Depending on the season, you can find a tremendous deal.
The one-bedroom water-way suite has an awesome view of Naples Bay with all of the different boats parked. The suite includes a fully furnished kitchen with all the cooking and dining utensils you need to make a home-cooked meal. A washer and dryer is also available in the unit to make laundry easy. Several of the suites have Jacuzzis or jetted tubs with separate showers and a guest bathroom. With a private balcony, guests may sit outside and enjoy the view of the bay while sipping their morning coffee or the evening night cap.
There are several pools at the resort, with the main pool located near the Spa. Poolside cabanas can be rented daily to allow privacy and a shield from the sun. We normally rent a cabana at least once during our visit. We lay there and enjoy poolside food and drinks for hours.
Located right on the property of the resort is Bonefish Grill. This is a popular spot for year-round Naples' residents. The featured appetizer is the Bang Bang Shrimp. Yummy yummy are the words to describe this delectable delight.
Other notables are the Yacht Club which is also loacted at the resort. It features Breakfast on the Bay, a daily breakfast buffett that serves made-to-order omlettes, among other breakfast staples. Choose to eat inside or outside by one of the smaller pools on the resort.
Pinchers Crab Shack offers crab in many forms. Located in the infamous Tin City, this restaurant has the best jumbo crab cakes I have ever tasted.
Shopping and Attractions
Tin City is a quaint shopping area that houses many shops and restaurants. You will find a winery, sea shells, jewelry, clothes, toys and other great finds.
Downtown Naples - 5th Avenue has many stores for the shopping appetite. My favorite store is named The Best of Everything and is a jewelry/accessory store. I love this shop. The selection is unbelievable and the prices are fantastic. My only complaint is that the store doesn't have an online presence. If it did, I would shop online year around. However, making the yearly visit is one of the highlights of our trip. I love this store!
Naples Princess offers sightseeing cruises and dinner cruises. Choosing this dining option will give you the opportunity to view the fabulous homes along the Bay, while enjoying a delicious meal on the water.
White sand beaches along the gulf draws hundreds of visitors. So beautiful and serene, camp out on the beach and enjoy God's creation at its best.
Naples, Florida offers the best in vacationing. If you are looking for more of a laid back vacation that's tasteful and serene, I recommend this city on the Gulf.
