Backwoods charm meets with worldly sophistication in south central Indiana. A friendly and unpretentious hilly hinder land rich town called Nashville hosts a spectacular woodland called Brown County State Park.

When the locals mention color, they are referring to the hillsides, where an extraordinary color palate occurs every spring and fall. For the past century it's been a gathering place for artists. Because of this, Nashville is home to many antique shops, art galleries and craft stores. But oh.., the glorious taste of true home cooking. Every restaurant in town is a connoisseur's delight and prices are very reasonable for anyone on a budget.

The main attraction, Brown County State Park, is a few miles east of town. Pay the minimal State Park entrance fee and then cross the covered bridge into the woods. Visitors can explore over 16,000 acres of pristine woodlands, lakes and streams. Once in the park you can swim, fish, horseback ride, mountain bike or hike down one of it's shady trails. Catch a glimpse the wildlife in it's natural surroundings while enjoying any outdoor activity in the park.

Prior arrangements can be made to stay overnight at the park in a modern vacation home with air conditioning that sleeps 8 comfortably. Watch wildlife right from your x-large wooded deck. Very rustic cabins are available, in addition to in park hotel accommodations for the less adventurous. Of course, camping is available like all state parks.

The small town of Nashville, Indiana and Brown County State Park are true American Heartland treasures that should be seen and enjoyed by all. They host beyond expected accommodations, great home cooking, and artistic beauty depicted everywhere, whether in the hills or on the canvas. A place worth visiting and exploring. Just one of those terrific trips! The web site is:

Good hub! Brought back memories, as my wife and I have stayed in Nashville during a couple different fall trips. It is beautiful and the autumn colors so varied and lovely. Great place to visit and the shops, as you mentioned, unique and fun. Voted up.
