Quality Accommodation at a Reasonable Price
If you are planning a trip acccommodation costs will be a big part of your budget especially in the major cities. Whether you are travelling alone, with a partner, friend or with children the Novotel Chain offers quality accommodation at a reasonable price.
I have travelled fairly extensively in Europe and America at many different budget levels and whilst I have often found excellent individual family hotels or pensions in smaller towns and cities in major cities budget accommodation that is clean and comfortable can be more difficult.
The Novotel Chain
The first Novotel opened in France in 1967. There are now over 400 hotels in 60 countries around the world. The most recent to be built is in New York and Novotel has just announced a new location in London at Blackfriars. Each hotel offers guests a standard room 25m sq. with private bath, television, safe, mini fridge. Every Novotel has a bar and restaurant and some have swimming pools and terraces.
I have personally stayed at Novotel Heathrow, London UK and Novotel Montparnasse in Paris France and would recommend them both on the basis that they offerred accommodation at a reasonable price in locations that we wanted to be. The hotel beds are really comfortable and the rooms were clean and well appointed. The one dislike I have is that the toilet is separate from the bathroom but the wash basin for hands is in the main bathroom.
The pull out sofabed in Paris had two separate mattresses, whilst the one in the UK only had one. There was enough room for my teen daughters and I but we may have been a little squished if there had been a fourth person. For two adults and two smaller children there is probably enough room but you would need to fold up the sofa beds to create a play area.
Essentially we only use hotel rooms for sleeping and washing but if you want a place to sit and relax Novotel may not offer enough space unless only one or two people are using the room.
Each hotel has two compiuters for general use in the foyer which is linked to a printer for tickets and boarding passes. This is free for guests. The hotel in Paris also offered a games station for children.
The best price for the hotel is definitely not at check in. I noticed at both hotels that the desk price was way higher than what we had paid. In Paris I booked with Eurostar and in London I booked online direct with Novotel - not via a booking site - for a cheaper rate. The Novotel website is easy to navigate and offers package deals for weekend and city breaks too. http://www.novotel.com/gb/home/index.shtml
Next time I am travelling I will definitely consider Novotel as a place to stay.
