Oakland is Much More Than A Cemetery

Oakland Cemetery sits on 48 acres of land near downtown Atlanta. Tourists are often surprised to learn that it serves as much more than a final resting place. Throughout the year it hosts events such as:

  • Victorian Street Festivals
  • Tunes From The Tombs
  • Night Time Halloween Tours
  • Run Like Hell-Pushing up Daisies 5k Run
  • Weekly Special Topic Tours

It has always been apparent the cemetery management has a sense of humor. The popular event "Tunes From The Tombs." is a day long music festival that allows local musicians to perform amongst Oakland's extraordinary monuments, mausoleums, and renown gardens. Because of it's wonderful architecture and sculptures Oakland Cemetery is often a gathering spot for local creative artists who come to take pictures, paint pictures and sometime produce short video clips and stories.

Beautiful Any Season Of The Year.
