Ocean Creek, an Inviting Resort

Nestled among lush trees and colorful flora just off Kings Highway at Myrtle Beach, SC, Ocean Creek Resort sits on 57 acres right next to the ocean. The resort sports three different types of accommodations: garden homes, condos, and high rise apartments.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped and manicured with huge trees and flowering shrubs. There are paved walkways and bike trails that lead to the beach and other facilities.

Things to Do

My favorite aspect of Ocean Creek is that, unlike many other beach resorts, it is all but self-contained. There is a nice restaurant, The Four Seasons, and The Beach Club which also serves food and hosts bands and other entertainment. Between the two, a visitor can get a hot meal from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Although Ocean Creek is on the beachfront, there’s plenty to do otherwise on the resort. There are six outdoor pools and one indoor pool, a putting green, tennis courts, a game room, a playground, a fitness center and two conference centers.

Our Retreat Experience

Our Women’s Retreat members met in The Water Oaks Conference Center. Our conference room was an exact fit for our forty-member group, which is what we also experienced last year when our group numbered around 80. The conference room was comfortable and equipped with a great sound system, movie screen, and head table. The resort provided other conference necessities for a fee.

Our sleeping quarters were large and well equipped. My roommates and I stayed in a two-bedroom condo that sleeps six. It had two full baths, a full kitchen, a spacious living and dining area and a large deck off the living area. Though we were not oceanfront (the two high-rises are), that worked in our favor since we were not distracted by the lure of the ocean during the sessions, but we were close enough to take between-sessions strolls to work off the calories from the scrumptious lunches that were included in our package.

High Recommendations

I would highly recommend Ocean Creek Resort for either a conference, retreat, or family vacation.  It is located at 10600 North Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.  Check them out at
