For alternative Vacations To Panama which might include visiting Boquete Panama, Bocas del Toro, San Blas, the Azuero Peninsula or all of the above you're on your own. Well not really but you will  need to coordinate and plan out your trip in detail using a variety of resources. Check out Learn About Panama for some interesting free letters on what to see and where to go.

Panama All Inclusive Vacation Packages

Since the 1989 U.S. invasion of Panama and the removal of Dictator Manuel Noriega few have viewed Panama as a Vacation destination other than adventure travellers, ex-zonians and a few groups of Canadians.

Panama All Inclusive Vacation Packages

For many years now AirTransat has partnered with Decameron Resorts to charter groups of Canadians from Toronto and Montreal to the Royal Decameron Resort Panama. Around 2005 some Canadian Charter companies also began offering Playa Blanca Beach Resort as an alternative Panama All Inclusive Vacation.

Panama Vacation Destination

More recently the influx of press about Panama has drawn additional investment in tourism and in Panama All inclusive Resorts in particular. One such example is SuperClub Breezes Panama which celebrated it's grand opening the winter of 2009/2010. Nikki Beach is promoting it's latest resort which will open soon along the Playa Blanca coast in the Arco Seco region of Panama.

Panama: It’s Happening Now

On March 24, the Americas Society/Council of the Americas hosted the 'Latin American Cities Conference'. This was the second time the conference took place in Panama City. This years conference title and theme was “Panama: It’s Happening Now.” The conference focused on opportunities for investment in a few key areas but most significant was tourism.

“Tourism: Development Prospects” panel highlighted Panama Tourism as a leader in terms of economic growth including Panama’s tourism high growth opportunities and potential. Of key importance to many tourist carriers was the announcement that the government will establish a 'Ministry of Security' to address transnational crime issues. Panama is also embarking on major projects to expand road and airport networks. The Panamanian tourism industry will also expand ecotourism and it is placing special emphasis on visitors as "future investors." Roberto Henríquez, the Minister of Industry and Commerce pointed out that, in addition to the Panama Canal, Panama has become a hub for more than 51 destinations through its domestic airline, Copa Airlines.

Panama Canal Vacation Packages

One area which has always been popular is Panama Canal Vacation Packages. These are essentially the trans-continental cruise which carry passengers through the Panama Canal. These cruises have been introducing people to the wonders of the Panama Canal and the beauty of Lake Gatun as they cruise by the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. for more than two decades. However, most passengers disembark for a short period of time. As a result they miss most of the places, people and things which make Panama so special. Of course a Canal Cruise will give one a small exposure to Panama City but this area is on the opposite end of the country from places like Boquete Panama and Bocas del Toro.

Panama Canal Day Cruise

An option for vistors who want to create their own Panama Canal Vacation Package while exploring the rest of the country is to take a day cruise. These half-day or full day transits are a fantastic way to experience the canal as part of a Panama Vacation. A great way to to this is to take the full-day cruise starting from Panama City in the morning, through the canal to Colon and then return via the Panama Canal Railway in the afternoon. Of course one could do it in reverse as well.

I've been following your Panama Hubs and finding a lot of useful information. I looked up the Gamboa Rainforest resort and it looks beautiful... expensive, but beautiful. It sounds like maybe just one or two nights would be sufficient anyways. Thanks again Mark and keep the good info coming!
