Pine Creek Gorge the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon - Places to Visit in Tioga County PA

The "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania" begins just south of Ansonia, along Route US 6 and continues south for about 47 miles. At its deepest point, Pine Creek Gorge is 1,450 feet deep and nearly 1 mile wide. At Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks, the depth of the canyon is about 800 feet and these parks have the most spectacular scenic overlooks. This area received national acclaim in 1968 when a 12 mile section of Pine Creek Gorge was designated as National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service.

This is a 2 mile walk-thru zoo which is handicap accessible. It takes about an hour to walk through the winding outdoor exhibits. You can feed and pet many of the animals inside. Animals you will see include; peacocks and pheasants, tiger, cougar, leopard, bear, lynx, raccoon, emus, ducks, geese, buffalo, monkeys, mini horses, donkey, four-horn sheep, barbados sheep, black hawaiian sheep, white-tail deer, sika deer, fallow deer, silkie and cochin chicks, llamas, and many more.
