Pensacola Beach Memories 2

Updated on January 20, 2013
The Fishing Hole
The Fishing Hole

I just got back from a trip to Pensacola Florida. We went to spread the ashes of my recently deceased wife. Staying in town saved us hundreds of dollars. Three nights in a room with a micro wave and small refrigerator cost only $135.00 including tax. Most meals were eaten in our room but we decided that since we were there a fish dinner was a must. A place about one mile from our hotel turned out to be our best deal. It was only one area in a shopping center and could seat only twenty. we all got the fish basket which was at least two lightly fried trout four, gigantic shrimp and four equally sized oysters. My side dish was collared greens. I want a dish of them from there as my last meal. The young man who ran the place had only opened six months earlier after spending six months cooking in Europe. He had come back to his home town to finally come back to his home town to put down roots. The place was called the fishing hole and was easy to miss. Thank God we didn't. This is what traveling is all about. Anyone can go to Applebees or Joe's Crab Shack. They are in every city and small town in the USA. Not the Fishing Hole. Pensacola is the only place. My greatest fear is that when I go back everyone will know about it and I won't be able to find a table

I'm so sorry for the loss of your wife, and I'm sure she was smiling down on you while you enjoyed The Fishing Hole.

      Thanks for the tip!
