Photographs From Around Cornwall: Golitha Falls
There are endless beautiful walks in Cornwall that are great for any photographer whether they are amateur or a seasoned professional. And Golitha Falls in Liskeard (pronounced "liskard") is one of the prettiest and most serene woodland walks I have ever been on.
It's not easy to find but if you keep your eyes open for the signs and don't mind navigating the scary Cornish "roads" then you will be able to find it. You can park in the designated car park and there is even a smokehouse where you can get some incredible food and toilets, because, well, you know, it was a long drive. You also don't have to pay to park which is incredibly rare for anywhere in Cornwall, so make the most of it!
Golitha Falls is Easy up to a Point
To get to Golitha Falls, all you have to do is cross a small road into the woodland area, and you're there! It's a relatively easy walk up to a certain point, but if you have mobility issues, you may struggle because there is some clambering over rocks required to get pas certain points. But you can get around some places in a wheelchair as I saw a couple of people in wheelchairs.
The River Fowey
On the way you will see some beautiful woodland views and get to walk right beside part of the crystal clear river Fowey (pronounced "Foy") It's a stunning walk and even though ti will probably get really busy, it seems really serene and cut off from the rest of the world. It's a popular place for dog walkers and hikers, and it is easy to see why, you are very aware of how natural and pretty everything is, and just how far you come away from civilization.
Part Of English Nature
It must be a really great place for bird watching as I saw quite a few bird boxes that had been put up by English Nature and it is designated a "Site of Specific Interest" due to it's flora.
There are several places you can sit and have a picnic, we sat and had ours on a large stone, right in the middle of the river, there were loads of other people doing the same thing.
Visit Golitha Falls
Golitha Falls is a place of natural beauty and I would highly recommend that if you are in Cornwall, you visit it. You definitely won't be sorry you did.
