Picturesque Cities of Switzerland

The quaint land with panoramic views from everywhere can leave one spellbind. The magnificent edifices, majestic mountains and the mystic snowy landscape is something that Switzerland is well known for. There are few cities that must be included in the trip of Switzerland.

Lausanne

The old town of Lausanne is a car free area that has been turned into a farm market. One can enjoy there by walking leisurely on the streets and witnessing the great gothic cathedrals and other historic buildings. The very famous Olympic Museum is also located over here and the august Cathedrale Notre Dame which will leave travelers mesmerized is the “must go” of this place.

Montreux

The most popular thing of this place is its magnificent castles, listing from Château de Chillon to Château de Chatelard. Be it the Montreux Jazz festival or the fantastic ride of chocolate train, they will all give you a lifetime moments to cherish.

Zermatt

This place is well known for its most beautiful and amazing mountain of the world; Matterhorn. One must visit Gornergrat once during their whole lifetime. The scintillating snow and panoramic view will leave one enchanted. Not to forget Matterhorn Glacier Paradise which is having the highest cable car station of Europe, giving their tourist fun and frenzy all at same time.

Interlaken

Walking on the sides of placid river Aare is a very soothing. Mt. Jungfraujoch can make one feel home by Hindi sign boards and typical Bollywood style restaurants on the hill top. If the weather is clear enough, then one can surely be serendipitous to see Italy, France and Germany from the top. Mt. Titlis is a place offering revolving cable cars with panoramic views and scenic beauty.

Lucerne

This place has encompassed beautiful historic monuments within its vicinity. Kapellbrücke or Chapel Bridge is a well-known site for its simplicity, was burned in 1994 and has been restored again. It is wooden road covered bridge running diagonally across the Reuss. There are many more places to visit like Mt. Pilatus, Jesult Church and Lion Monument etc.

Bern

It is the capital of Switzerland, enveloping museums, historic monuments and churches in its lap. The world heritage site of Bern; Old Town must be visited by the tourists. Besides that Fine Art Museum, Rosengarten, Bernmunster and Bern Jazz Festival are few things to be enjoyed.

Zürich

It is one of the busiest cities in the world. Being located centrally it has malls and markets. The city is popular for its Bahnhofstrasse Paradeplatz, one of the most exclusive and expensive fashion streets of the world. It also has opera house, 100 above art galleries and more than 50 museums like Rietberg Museum and Swiss National Museum etc.

Geneva

It is also known as City of parks which is the second most populous city of Switzerland. It has myriads of art galleries and museums to pacify the visitors. This is the world’s third largest city encompassing world’s tallest fountain. Witnessing the Cathédrale de St Pierre; a magnificent example of Romanesque architecture will leave one astounded.
