Yuletide season is coming faster than we are expecting! Christmas lights are everywhere, decorations can be seen in every house and establishment. During this most anticipated month of the year, have you ever been thinking about where you can stay the night and enjoy the wonderful colors and lights of Christmas? Davao City is lighting again the sparkling tree lights, showing off its dazzling decorations and ornamental stuffs to celebrate the Christmas once more! There are lots of places to visit during the month December. Be it on parks and malls, all you have to do is to be enthusiastic enough to cross from one place to another. There is no need for a pocket full of money. Just bring an amount enough for you. If you are bothered by your very tight budget, you can still visit several places without entrance fees. 1. Mana Davao

Mana Davao's, or fully known as Mana Casa de Artes y Antiguas, Christmas Display last year costs for about PHP 2.5 million ( just for its lights and decors. Imagine? This is how fabulous and extravagant Mana celebrated Christmas. Plus, the main inducement of the place is it’s for FREE. Yes, you wouldn’t need to pay just to see the place itself. You can take pictures as much as you want. It has been the main attraction of Bajada, Davao City from its passersby: locals and tourists.

2. People’s Park

Accustomed by the yearly Christmas presentations and display during December, this is the best place to spend your night during this month. Filled with different Christmas decors and garnitures, you will absolutely feel the spirit of Christmas. There are also lots of presentations held here such as the local famous event, Pasko Fiesta (Christmas Fiest) and Lamdag Parada (Lighted Christmas Float Parade). It is also perfect for family bonding and getaways.

3. Jack’s Ridge

Jack’s Ridge is a famous place not only for locals in Davao City but as well as for tourists. It is always included in the itinerary for every tour in the city. Jack’s Ridge renders a magnificent view of Davao’s skyline during at night. Not only does it serves as a local attraction but also provides fine dining for starving guests. It has a swimming pool and children’s playground, perfect for family’s affair and bonding.

4. Rizal Park

Don’t have penny for your demands? No budget for malls? In the edge of a tight budget? Then, you may want to spend your night at Rizal Park. It won’t definitely hurt your suffering pocket. If you are starving from roaming the place, you can try the locals bragged street foods.

5. SM City Davao Christmas Display

SM is one of the most prestigious malls here in Davao City as well as nationwide. Every year, they would organize a splendid Christmas Display at the Exhibit Area in 2nd floor. This year 2011, they have made a Giant Christmas Wreath paired with a huge Christmas Tree. Publicly open last November 16, everyone is free to pose and take a picture at it for free.

Enjoying a particular place doesn’t mean you have to spend quite some bucks.       Thank you for sharing to us this very useful and interesting hub, well as I'm living here in Davao, I kind of been to these places...but sadly this year i was not able to visit MANA with my family...for every year they have different themes for their christmas decoration, and this year my family and i did not have a chance to take a picture of their amazing lights...thanks for sharing...god bless

      But now, rest assured your safety here in Davao. Recently, Davao has been declared as the safest city in the Philippines... So, I think it might be a good idea if you wanna settle here. But of course, Manila is wonderful too. I've been there the other month and I did really enjoy... I like Makati...:D

      Nice hub. I am from Manila but I was fortunate to work in Davao from 2000 to 2006. Stayed in Marco Polo during those years and I've been to all municipalities as far as Boston Davao Sur. Planned to settle there in 2003 but bombings then scared my family. Looking forward to go back to Davao next year. Thanks for this hub. Brought back great memories.
