Planning a Paradise Trip to South Padre Island Texas? This Is a Place You Should See at Least Once in Your Lifetime.
South Padre Island, TX
A dream beach vacation
Paradise is just a short plane trip away! The lovely island of South Padre is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico on one side, and the Laguna Madre bay on the other, it stays warm (and sometimes hellish hot) year round. If you long for a few days sitting on beautiful beaches with your feet in the warm sand and a Corona in your hand, you must make a plan to visit this paradise.
If you prefer quiet vacations avoid this spot during spring break.
Every beach on South Padre Island is public!
You can visit every beach on this long island strip for free. There are no private beaches located in South Padre, so you can easily hop from one sandy shore to the next. Just plan on metered parking, most parking is not free.
If you head North on the main strip, you can basically dead-end to undeveloped land and enjoy completely secluded areas on the Gulf of Mexico, the views are breathtaking.
I love oceans!
If you are a nature lover (like me), something may draw your heart and spirit toward large bodies of water. The oceans call to my heart and bring me great internal joy, inspiration, peace, and contentment. Every time I've been near the ocean, something just feels like home. I've been blessed to have visited both the Atlantic and the Pacific many times, but something about the Gulf of Mexico just takes my breath away. Someday, I hope to relocate and be as close to this body of water as possible.
What makes the Gulf of Mexico so unique and beautiful? If you like balmy hot weather, this is the place for you. The average yearly high temperature ranges from 69-72 degrees. May through October tend to be the hottest months, where you can realistically expect 87-91 degrees. Yearly lows here rarely drop below 57! The water in the Gulf is clear and a mesmerizing teal blue.
Sharks and other wildlife
As many as 49 shark species inhabit the Gulf of Mexico, including Silky, Bull, Lemon, Oceanic whitetip, Dusky, Tiger, Thresher, several species of hammerhead, and even whale sharks, just to name a few. But besides sharks, many other marine mammals call this home. Crabs, dolphins, pelicans, seagulls, various birds and cowfish are usually easy to see when visiting just from being near the water. Sea turtles also love living in the gulf, many of these once populous species are threatened, or endangered. So be kind when visiting, and please do NOT litter!!
