Platinum Mall - Buy Cheap Fashion in Bangkok
For many years locals and tourists had to buy their fashion accessories and dresses in crowded outdoor markets like Pratunam and Chatuchak Weekend Market. It's just in 2008 that Platinum Mall on Petchburi Road opened it's doors. Platinum Fashion Mall is presenting thousands of small clothing shops with many different designs on 7 air-conditioned floors in one building and since 2011 another 7 floors for accessories like shoes, handbags and belts in a new building right next to it. Of course there is more stuff for women than men. Fashion is a girlie occupation after all.
Platinum Mall the place where Thai people go shopping for new clothes. Tourists and foreigners are not as often seen. Possibly, because it's rather new and many old tourist guides and maps don't have it pointed to, yet. You see a lot of Bangkok students roaming around the booths as Platinum has become an important landmark for their dress shopping. Ranges of products are amazing and there is an item for every demand. Cotton stockings, nylon lingerie, underwear, shorts, skirts or exotic t-shirt designs - it's all available. Most shops offer 2 tiered pricing. Buy a single item and pay retail price. Buy 3 or more pieces to take advantage of whole sale pricing. At least 20% discount or more that would be.
During my last shopping spree in Platinum with my fashion model friend Yui, we picked up plastic belts. Those are cheap colorful belts made from plastic: pink, blue, violet, yellow. They cost like 50 to 100 Baht. For better quality and durability, Silicone belts are offered for around 200 Baht. They are much more hygienic and fashionable than leather straps, easier to adjust as you can just cut them off with a regular knife - and much cheaper!
